Kari Band
Just arrived.
For those curious:
This is fantastic
I was actually only giving this a listen because of Garm from Ulver is a guest on the album. But the entire album just blew me away. Picked it up on vinyl shortly after.
It’s campy AF, but it works!
I am a huge huge fan of new dark synthwave. This is awesome.
TMG is releasing a new album. TMG is the Tak Matsumoto Group with Tak Matsumoto (B’Z; guitar), Frank Blades (Night Ranger, bass) and Eric Martin (Mr. Big; vocal)
Kind of an 80s/90s rock vibe with modern vocals. This track has Babymetal on backing vocals (and Su doubles the lead), and the mix on the vocals is pretty clever if you like such things.
Tak is kind of the Steve Vai of JRock
I’m listening to Simon Gallup rock a Stingray.
One of their best eras, great show, amazing video, world class venue. So good.
Probably my favorite era for Capsule.
Nakata’s produced bands are so huge he doesn’t get nearly enough love for his own band (which is way better than the others IMO). The whole album this is from is really solid synth clubpop.
Always loved these guys.
Toshiko has great stage presence too. He’s essentially just DJing their stuff there with her singing along to some of her parts and it still works great as a high energy live set.
“Autumn is a second spring
when every leaf is a flower.”
On noting of the seasonal change, a song linked below that might not conjure up images of The Edgar Winter Group (which is headed up by a White Trash** rockabilly blues-man from Texas)…
**NOTE: not my editorial, I am only referencing the the 1971 album of the same title.
Then the algorithm nailed my likes:
Good new darkwave, some well knowns in there like Hoffen and Lebanon Hanover, even more new to me though. Cool.
I’ve got it open and paused. There’s some names I don’t know on there. I’ll give it a whirl in the morning while I’m working.
My friend and coworker is the bassist for this gothwave band and I think they’re pretty good:
