What are you listening to right now?

It’s awesome if you’re a fan of the Borderlands series. If you liked the Tiny Tina DLC for BL2, you’ll love it.

Many or most of Unlucky Morpheus’ songs are about or are inspired by games. They are very very Castlevania.

It’s an odd duck for sure.
There are a couple of gems but they are outweighed by too many WTFs

Exactly!

Someone grought up the Dead in another thread so I had to post my favorite Dead cover.

Searching for some examples I reminded myself how much I love Capsule.

Interestingly enough this was Lemmy’s last contribution to Hawkwind before his speed habit lost him that gig

This is so good… mmm…
It is also very much in the style/mood of Tides From Nebula (particularly the From Vodoo to Zen album).

I love Tides From Nebula and own From Voodoo to Zen, great album! Probably my favorite track on it:

Dopamine is great. They have their own studio as well - Nebula Studio. The guitarist has his own youtube channel (in Polish only, unfortunately). Here is for example the episode where he explaines how they mixed Dopamine:

Another interesting thing about Dopamine is how the intro is inspired by Deeper Underground (Jamiroquai).

This is exactly what I need sometimes on a Monday morning:

…which definitely includes THIS Monday morning.

Been listening to a lot of XTC recently as I work through Generals and Majors, almost ready to try to record a cover of that one, just a few bars still tripping me up. This band was well before my time but is one of my dad’s favorites and I would listen to this album all the time as a kid. Excellent songwriting. No clue how these guys didn’t blow up in the 80’s!

Hanabie will be making waves in the kawaii metal genre. Wasn’t a fan of their early stuff, but they’ve grown up

Great band, one of my favorites. They were exceedingly popular on the alternative wavelengths, but songs like “Dear God” kept them out of the mainstream. Plus, their early touring gave Andy Partridge (lead singer/guitar player) serious stage fright.

Good stuff, though, XTC.

Interesting! I can imagine the stress of playing in front of a huge audience. I don’t even like playing in front of my wife, couldn’t imagine a packed arena!

Good one and classic as you said.
Some people don’t know that it was a response song to Bo Diddley’s “I’m a Man”:

Wombat trivia - what made me turn my head and look at Babymetal initially years ago was when they did an answer song to Kiba of Akiba’s “Animation with You”. Answer songs are a lost art.

Some quality musicianship on display right here.
Sometimes the beauty and simplicity of the melody can get lost in a full metal mix.

YouTube Music is on a softer 80s kick this morning. Sade reminds me of the times friends would rent a private karaoke room and spend the evening singing. One friend in particular has a gorgeous voice, sang in bands, etc; she would grab my hand and say “come sing this with me.” How could I say no to such a huge complement?
