What are you struggling with?

That’s great progress, sometimes the connection is planted in the brain first and then transfers to the fingers without you consciously doing so.

Yeah, something similar with me too. Most of the time I just no longer have the patience to practice difficult sections over and over again. Instead I choose the path of least resistance, which is either noodling improvisation, or playing things I already know.

iM STRUGGLING WITH THE SAME THING. HOW ARE YOU DOING NOW WITH THE FLYING FINGERS?

Oh much better now, three years later

It will get better with time.

BTW, love the Descendents profile pic you have there

This is very timely, and always is for noobs like me. My flying fingers are pretty terrible at the moment. Today is day 31 of my bass playing and B2B, and even though I can play Another Brick in the Wall okay, my fingers need a lot of work. I’ve watched Josh and Scott’s tips for exercises to work on flying fingers so once I repeat B2B (I’m almost at the end) I will really focus on proper technique. I know it will improve eventually but right now I’m at the stage where I am doing some exercises slowwwwwly and the pinky still flies out so I’m sitting there willing it to settle.

Every time I see people post their great covers I wonder how long it took for their flying fingers to settle! Those videos are a fab source of encouragement.

My Telebass has serious neck dive

It also has a spacious control cavity, standard Warmoth I would say with two potentiometers and no EQ or battery.

The bass is also fairly light overall.

What do you think of this idea?

It might work. You’ve sure got room to do it. It all depends on how much weight you need to add to counter-balance the neck.

I was also planning on putting light weight tuners on. Just thinking ahead

Hipshot Ultralite tuners would help some. The stock tuners you currently have might be too hefty.

Hipshot Ultralites and a slightly heavier bridge fixed my SBV completely. No dive at all now. No need to hang weights off my strap

Just make sure you order the USA Ultralites - they are machined aluminum, while the export ones are cast zinc. There is a vast difference in quality there.

I’ve got a Hipshot Badass bridge on it, so that’s pretty beefy. My caliper from Amazon should be here today.

Today I’m struggling with Instant Gratification Syndrome.

My Warmoth Tele Bass needs some work. The neck dive is atrocious, so I’ll at least need to change out the tuners. It also needs finishing on the back, the neck isn’t rough but it’s not smooth. So probably some sanding. And then some sort of finish after.

Which probably means removing the neck.

I’m in the middle of my 45 day grace period with GC to return it. The instant gratification is to simply return it and grab another D5 while they’re in stock.

Which I’m resistant to.

Thank God I have other basses to play.

If you’re not in love with the Warmoth, I’d ditch it. But that’s me. I’m not sentimental about things. If they work for me, cool. If not, they’re history posthaste.

Yeah. Life’s too short for gear you don’t love.

Struggling with trying to play any AC/DC bassline while keeping the rhythm. It’s easier for me to get Cliff Williams’ hairstyle than it is to play something that vaguely resembles Who Made Who.

Ha, I’m struggling with doing the jazz improv lesson again. I’m going back through B2B for a second pass, and last time I ah, really did not enjoy the free jazz lesson. Just not my kind of music and it’s such a cacophony to my earsn so I’ve been procrastinating and playing bass tab videos on YouTube instead. But time to go back to B2B. Cover me, I’m goin’ in.

Deciding what cover to record next. Have a whole bunch in the hopper that I have been working on but aren’t quite there yet: 1) Sabbath: Paranoid; 2) The Clash: Jimmy Jazz; 3) Walk The Moon: Shut Up and Dance with Me; 4) bunch of Blink 182 stuff.

Blink is always fun, Paranoid is fun too.

Struggling with my Fujigen

Played it last night and the strings were giving me a weird harmonic. This is the TI set that was weird when I first put them on.

Think changing the strings is in order. Either D’addario chrome flats cause flats is so smooth, or DR Lo Riders. Probably the DRs
