I was surprised how busy that bass line was when I saw (I think) Samboat play it on his channel… I never realized it was that “difficult” (for me) of a line… Look forward to seeing the cover!
Been working on some Metallica and “Don’t Speak “ by No Doubt which is testing me a little beyond my limits
I’m a pop boy at heart (and proud of it!) and I’m currently learning:
- The Corrs - Breathless (fingers aren’t quite fast enough)
- ABBA - Lay All Your Love On Me (see above but x10)
- Natalie Imbruglia - Torn (some tricky fills in this one)
I’m currently doing two opposite ends of the spectrum.
For one I’m learning Mourning Palace for basic metal technique. So far the 3:1:2 swing triplet in the main riff is killing me. I can do it alright at 110BPM, I somehow cannot advance to 120, I always slip into plain eighths.

Video is for example purposes, that’s not me.
And then I’m learning this, simply because it’s full of beautiful melancholic bass lines and surprisingly easy.

I love playing this. I stink at it, but it’s fun to play.
Noise by Nightwish, possibly Lost In Forever by Beyond the Black (fun bass fills here). Electric Crown by Testament…
An original where there’s some conflicting ideas between the singer and guitarist lol
Guitarist: I wrote this slow heavily effected thing and envision the bass and drums doing something harder/faster along with it.
Singer: I envision the bass and other guitar to do these big hits with the vocal I do

She liked what I came up with, neither guitarist said anything either way but I felt I managed to get in both their wishes…
I dig that BC Rich. ![]()
Personally, I’m working on “Come on, Eileen” by Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Great song, one of my favorites growing up, pretty much forgot about it until I came across it the other day and said, “I need to learn that bassline!”
Love that! Those guys were 3 minutes ahead of their time. So sad they didn’t have anything else in the tank.
I’m working on Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth, which stretches me to be honest.
Also started working on Bad Guy by Billie Eilish. Like that baseline. Need to synth it but that can wait until I get the song down
I’m currently working on I Predict a Riot - Kaiser Chiefs
So, in recent months, I haven’t been really paying attention to my BassBuzz lessons (or any others, for that matter). I’ve been working on songs. I finally have a few that if I had the knowledge, skill, or software to make one of those cool “cover” videos I would. Alas, I have none. But here are the songs, and I use these for warm up, for when I want to play something and feel good about it, or when I want to avoid work:
- Lovefool, The Cardigans
- For Those About To Rock (We Salute You), AC/DC
- I Love Rock and Roll, Joan Jett
- King Without a Crown (Live from Stubb’s), Matisyahu
Here’s the complete list of songs I’m actively working on:
- Come on, Eileen, Dexy’s Midnight Runners
- Come and Get your Love, Redbone
- Stir It Up, Bob Marley
- California Dreamin’, The Mamas and the Papas
- You Shook Me All Night Long, AC/DC
I’m finding that I’m really digging on AC/DC basslines lately, for whatever that’s worth. Both For Those About To Rock and You Shook Me All Night Long are GREAT basslines.
Probably the greatest band in the world ![]()
Yeah @mac Scotland has produced AC/DC and Men at Work. What a country ![]()
Well done ![]()

I was going to put in the Bay City Rollers, nut nah, we want good music from Scotland
Average White Band
Adding another one to my list of “songs I’m actually working on”:
- Master’s Apprentice, Opeth.

Absolutely dig this song. And this band.
Edit: not from Scotland. Sorry, I failed.
Why the heck did I pick Symphony of Destruction? Looks so easy, but it’s tricky for me.
Beat 1 - F open
Beat 2 - E pull off
Beat 3 - E palm mute
Beat 4 - E open
Beat 5-8 E palm mute
Yes, it needs a pick and the attack sounds all down strokes to me which is the easy part. You would think chugging on the E string would be simple
Onward and onward
