Can’t wait to see your submission in the Covers thread! I’m not quite ready for hysteria. Can play the intro with ease but haven’t tried to learn the rest. It’s just too much for me at the moment. I am currently working on another Arctic Monkeys song called A Certain Romance. It’s one of my favorite lyrically of theirs and the bass line is a blast to play when you nail it. About 3/4 of the way through but still have to transcribe the end of the song since I can’t find accurate tabs. Hoping to have a cover done by the end of the weekend!
Just starting on “Message in a Bottle”, too – one of my all-time favorite songs.
I’m doing this one - pathetically slowly until my wee baby girl hands get the strength and stretch needed to do it properly. Back in the day I could do the guitar well enough but tackling the “cables” on the bass is a little different. My Jazz could use a little fine-tuning on the action too.
Right now I’m playing this on < 50% speed. Really trying the ‘learn it slow’ approach.
Superstar by the Carpenters.
Brilliant bassline by Joe Osborn.
Karen nailed the song in one take
It’s taking me more than one
Try the Sonic Youth version

Nails the sketchy stalker creepiness of the song much better than the original IMO
Been listening to that too.
From the album Like a Carpenter - I am into this song now
Thanks. The verse is much simpler on bass. I was like am I cheating with this arrangement but Sonic Youth (who say they are influenced by Shonen Knife) are much more my vibe.
That whole album is awesome.
Me too. And Kim Gordon is a great bassist.
Had it transcribed over the weekend. Verdine White on bass.
Smokin’
Oh funky. I love it. Love the groove.
I’m sticking with easy stuff.
Clutch-the wolfman kindly requests.
International noise conspiracy-smash it up.
One day I’ll actually hook up the scarlett 2i2 i bought and post a practice fragment. Ive been around here for like a year and a half, so it’s probably time. There’s a little hesitancy due to not being as good as I’d like to be.
Small goals, huge steps.
Nice! That’s a bop too!
Love most of their stuff before tranquility base hotel & casino, not so keen after that
Go for it! Totally worth doing to look back on, see the improvement as time goes on
I am working on Screaming $uicide and Battery by Metallica
I really want to mess around with this song but it’s a B standard? Or a B# standard and I’m not sure if I can do that to my bass after having the core of my E breaking.
LOL

There are tab transposers out there like this: http://tabtransposer.com/ Haven’t used any myself, but couldn’t you just shift the whole thing up an octave?
Just jump into it! Iteration and improvement is always better than holding off for mastery/perfection. As @DeadPixels said, it can be amazing to look back and see one’s progress and committing that to a audio/video medium is a great way to do just that. Even if you record something and don’t wish to share it, that can still serve as a record of improvement.
Hope that helps!
Yep! I just been havin a go at Guns n Roses - Sweet Child Of Mine… And it’s god awful!
But it’s there to show progress in ‘x’ number of days/weeks/months practicing
(might post it anyway, apologies to anyone who listens )
I am working on two, pretty much got them. They were pretty easy but it is the kind of music I like. Just finishes Shatter by Triptykon and How The Gods Kill by Danzig. Just started Bartzabel by Behemoth.
Bravo! That’s huge!
