Cool. Gary Valentine was underrated, that was their only album he played bass on. Had an ok solo career after that.

Working on Sir Duke, by Stevie Wonder. I have most of it down at lower speed, but it’s the groove of the baseline that’s the real challenge. Those syncopated ghost notes are tricky to nail, but they add so much flavour.

Been out of the game a bit, but I’ve got a couple I’m working on:
The bass line is so good it’s transformed my initial strong dislike of this song. The tiktok/reel/short every other video on the Internet having the hook as background music really turned me off of it until I started playing bass.
I love that flowers bassline. It’s just fun to play. And the come on Ellen song has been a goal for a long time. I can do it relatively ok, but i don’t have an acoustic, so it don’t sound real good. Nice choices!
OK, so I did as the forum said and reached out to other musicians. Now I have to learn these two before tuesday. Drop D, but that is all I know.

I’ve only been playing bass for a couple of weeks so this one might take a little bit for the harder parts

What a great line. I can only do it at 90% right now. But I’ll get there. It’s a little difficult to stay relaxed enough to play through all of it mistake free. So I’ll keep plugging away at it, i can hear its there
I’ve just started work on Floyd’s Money. A great riff that’s repeated…a lot. So not too difficult (so far). But it’s odd timing 7:4 with bits of 4:4 and 6:4 which is messing with my head a bit. Biggest difficulty with so many reps is knowing when to change. Figure I’ll need the vocals to cue the changes.

Might take a while, though, as I said, the bass line does a lot of repeating of that main opening riff. We’ll see 
Rhythm and syncopation are something I struggle with a little so I like to challenge myself. Figure it’s the best way to learn!
Taking the easy way out again. Carpet crawlers by genesis. Slow and steady, but it’s fun to win one once in a while.
