Women on Bass

She’s holding a Zemaitis A22MF bass. You don’t see those every day!

Wow that’s a great looking Tobias Killer B. Now I want to mod mine like that. It would definitely help me to play like that too.

Just saw Chevy Palm hold down the groove fabulously at a Reggae festival in Mammoth Lakes, CA. Super cool Cunningham blade that could be cross posted to Bass Porn. Old school rig complete with Ampeg 8x10 and boat anchor SVT.

Kind of sad but inevitable that despite an incredible performance, the main reason most male bass players remember that gig is a missing bra. Not pointing fingers here, I’m as guilty of this as anyone.

I mean I guess we are just as driven by nature as anyone else, but still - it’s embarrassing

Never mind that, what sort of animal paints a wall with a 4" brush rather than a roller?

This whole clip made me anxious :grimacing:

I’m not bothered with it. I also like PJ Harvey who did way more crazy shit on stage

But America was/is much more conservative than Europe when it comes too these type of things. Wasn’t there a huge deal with Janet Jackon during a Super Bowl show?

Yes, the US somehow manages to be one of the most repressed puritannical nations and also one of the most explicit and sexually exploitative nations at the same time. What can I say, can’t make everyone happy at once

I’m not bothered by Tal in the clip at all. Just kind of rolling my eyes at my fellow dudes for what we tend to focus on.

Biology explained by Jerry and George:

Back on topic:

Tal is killing it in that Jeff Beck video, and she is just as easily rolling with Herbie:

(Side note: while this riff is potentially a good one-finger-per-fret exercise, most pros play the first four notes with one or two fingers and shift to position the hand for the “accents” on the higher strings)

She’s really, really good, and not just on bass. She’s a talented multi-instrumentalist.

@Barney I’m not saying the guy in the video was using this kind of paint, but I recently became aware of a type of paint which, for a certain effect, the second coat should be applied with a brush vs. a roller, using a “criss-cross” type of pattern. It is lime wall paint (aka as “velvet wall paint”). Here are some videos showing how it is applied. You do need to use a mineral primer first.

Using this paint with the brush and painting in different directions, it gives a sort of “depth” look to the wall, something like plaster. I have yet to convince my husband that this will be just the thing for a couple of our rooms, but hope to swing it soon. The paint, at least at the company site above, is not inexpensive, which will no doubt offend his frugal principles.
