Yes it was his design to cut costs.

They were first made to sell as a production, inexpensive instrument in Sears stores and catalogs.

They are designed as cheap as possible to make, but they have a very unique sound because of it, and have chiseled out their place in the industry because of it.

Gotta say I was really impressed with a blind test of a Longhorn. And I usually dislike single coils.

There was a lot more to it than just being cheap. Nathan Daniel was a pretty interesting person and the number of 1st’s that came out of Danelectro is pretty surprising.

I reccomend this history written by his son.

Caught a big Pixie vibe from her song, will have to check her out. I’ve only heard a few songs by The Raincoats, she definitely broke free of their sound with this one.
