Women on Bass

Ahh interesting, they had spmething to do with the first album? I didn’t know that. You can also hear the Cibo Matto influence on it too, now that it is mentioned.

But really it’s Albarn’s project; he drove it from the start.

Kind of surprised Miki Berenyi isn’t on there too; she and Albarn were dating at the time (lucky bastard  )

Keep an eye out for Kate Shida of Audrey and Kate (@Audrey123talks)
When she gets through the song, her reaction is amazing!

Haraguchi-san gets a moment to shine. She and Tamu on drums make one of the better rhythm sections in young bands.

Weird they listed Dan first; it’s not alphabetical and if he wasn’t the primary founder, then what the heck.
BTW, I don’t trust Wikipedia

Under-discovered by me, so this is gonna be a treat! Definitely hear the Gorillaz sound in that tune!

Del and Dan the Automator collaborated on the Deltron 3030 album and it is still in my regular play cycle. In case you haven’t heard any I’ll link a video 3030 - YouTube

Awesome album, I own it, but I’d like to add the all instrumental version to my collection too. Also a big fan of Wax Taylor. Got a chance to see Wax Taylor live some time back. Really good show in a smaller venue. Once Upon a Past

I’m sure she’s been mentioned at some point in this thread, but Ida Nielsen is one of my favorite players in the entire world. Absolutely funky as fudge.

She’s awesome, one of my all time faves. Also hilarious that Eldritch was going through his “mullet and mirrorshades” phase.

And of course so is Ida

I subscribed to this bass player’s channel a while ago because I find she just makes it look so effortless. Amazing player.

Mina is completely self taught, learning by playing covers. She got a start in a band called Girlfriend in high school but they disbanded last year with some acrimony as Mina said it would be a while before she joins another band.

Which is sad as she is very good. Been a follower of her many years

I seem to remember watching her video on how she learned bass. Such amazing skill.
