I LOVE this video and have posted it before; it’s clear why you would want that u-bass!
OK, everyone - keep your eyes open for this u-bass so @itsratso can get one. ![]()

This! Just recently discovered how much fun some of their stuff is to play! ![]()
I really dig the song here (an old Mahavishnu Orchestra classic), not too crazy about Jeff Beck’s tone (never have been; I know that is borderline high treason), but what stands out is Rhonda Smith’s bass solo - a real badass solo over basically a one-chord vamp:
(recently seen on NoTreble)
Tal rocks the place!
Yeah, me neither. I saw him in concert years ago. His band was excellent but his tone was loud and screechy, and his playing sounded monotonous, from tune to tune.
His band played first.
Next up was Paul Simon and his killer big band from the Graceland album. Man, they blew the roof off the auditorium! Simply superb musicianship.
Finally, after a very long wait, Dylan and his band took the stage. On lead guitar was Austin’s-own guitar slinger, Charlie Sexton. For some reason no one could imagine, Dylan and the band were dressed in red, sequined rodeo/Grand Ol’ Opry costumes.
It didn’t help.
On-again/off-again Dylan really stunk up the place with a totally disinterested, perfunctory performance.
Oh well, at least Paul Simon delivered the goods.
Haha, don’t get me started on Dylan, or I might get crucified in this forum…
I’m just gonna leave this here:

To get back on track, how about some Fami, who is now the bassist of Lovebites
Yeah this was a fantastic band and tour for sure!
Adding someone I just discovered, Gina Birch, out there and awesome…
not one, not two, but three women bassists on one song!
I remember the Slits. That was fun
You’ve sent me down a rabbit hole, @howard
Kiyoshi has a new fan.
She’s great!
I’m not sure if this has already been posted.
Doesn’t matter. We can never have too much Tina Weymouth.
Ugh. Unfortunate news about Lizzo.
Grace Aberhart popped up on my IG feed a couple months ago and I’ve really been enjoying her little bass snippets - She just dropped an EP a few days ago.
I’ve been digging this tune - her jazz bass looks so cool!
