the song Deuteronomy off of that cd just kills it.
Most tracks on that album are at least great! I like how her voice, bass and lyrics come together to something perfect…
I wish I could find MIDI/GPX scores for that album…
Yeah, I remember that… I wonder why they haven’t featured her more - she’s awesome!
Here she is doing “forgotten” prog lines:
Ok she’s amazing. She did pick one bizarre JPop example though.
Oh no are idol bands now going nu-metal? I have avoided this completely, probably instinctively.
They are ca;; Harajuku core. I personally don’t personally see the difference in the music between what they do and Nu-metal/Metal core, but their fans are adamant what they are doing is completely new. Whatever.
But, they are not idol. They started out as a Maximum the Hormone cover band then pulled in some kawaii ish stylings, probably to ride Babymetal’s coattails like so many bands do. Their first single was I like Sweets for example. But their roots are MTH, so nu-metal as a base.
That makes complete sense, then. A new branch of kawaii metal, but nu-metal. Not my thing, but better than going idolpop
Not my thing either to be honest, but they are very good at it. They were just on the cover of Metal Hammer in the UK so they are blowing up
I was almost sure that either @Wombat-metal or @howard might have mentioned Misaki Fujiwara before, but I guess not…
She’s wielding a beautiful Mayones Jabba
Whoa she’s awesome! Great find.
Also this is a great example of one of the styles where I find a Jazz works well - driving alt-pop where nothing is getting in the way of hearing the scoop.
Here she is playing it in context (she’s the bassist for the band, that was her cover of her own song).
L7, another underrated band at the time (until years later when they were more appreciated).
I remember this one from the Natural Born Killers soundtrack, great tune!
