Gail Ann Dorsey was mentioned upthread – she’s SO great.

Jenny Lee Lindberg from Warpaint.

Jean Millington from Fanny (1970s all-woman band).

Thanks for sharing this! Watching Gail Ann Dorsey’s fingers while listening to her is really quite hypnotising.

Hello! I am new to the site, as well as totally new to the bass (I just borrowed one a week ago), but I am very excited to give it a try.

Here is my small contribution to this list: an Australian band that I’ve recently discovered, whose bass lines I really like: Camp Cope.
The bass player is Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich.

I am not yet allowed to post links, but I recomment you look for Camp Cope - UFO Lighter (Live on KEXP) on youtube, it’s worth checking.

I hope you enjoy it!
Greetings from Spain

Interesting… she seems to play a lot up on the D and G strings - very melodic!

I like their unassuming choice of instruments, a Mustang and a Squier. And yeah, lots of playing up there in the Hooky Zone.

They are fun! I didn’t know them. There seems to be a trend in Japan.

A Japanese band that I really like with a female bass player is MONO

(I seem to be able to post links already!)
Sorry for the long video, but their songs are usually long.
I’ve been lucky to see them live a few times, they tour quite a bit, don’t miss them if you enjoy this type of intrumental (post?)-rock.

Also, I can’t resist leaving you with this:

Oh yeah! I should have thought of MONO, very famous. They are great post-rock.

Post-rock/post-metal is one of my favorite genres. There’s a band from Barcelona I really like called Syberia, maybe you have heard them

Ok that was amazing. I had not heard of them, thanks
