So if the post title didn’t give y’all a clue, I’ll help you out. I’m in Texas…
I play multiple instruments, but I’m new to bass. I love how y’all are like “who cares about noise, it’s YOUR sound, and music is just an expression of sound.”
Almost every other instrument I play the folks are so dialed into “perfection “. Playing what’s on the paper.
Music isn’t about being ”perfect“, it’s about presenting your interpretation of whatever aspect of life is hitting you at the moment.
I’m not a bass player… yet. But I want what y’all have.
My son has a Fender Precision bass. Outside of that between the two of us we have eleven electric guitars, six acoustic guitars, seven banjos, two mandolins, a double bass, five saxophones, a reso guitar and I don’t know how many “lesser” instruments. We love making noise…
Yeah, I played around on it (or at least made noise on it) for a couple hours today. It needs a setup, bad. I’m amazed my son makes it sound so good when the setup is so off.
It’s a Fender, so to me it felt like my Strat just let herself go and got fat. Still makes sexy sounds, but damn baby, you just ain’t the same!
One of my younger brothers was born in Killeen, the other in Waco. I can’t remember which of those two towns were the birthplace of the older of my two younger sisters (the youngest was born in Abilene). I was born in Elk City, OK and lived there for one entire month before moving to TX. The first 5 years of my life ('51-'56) were spent in a house at the end of a dirt road, miles from the next house. There’s now a run down strip mall on that site (Copperas Cove).
