I always went with bright rounds so I am probably not your best answer here

Yes, IIRC.

DR Black Beauties Heavy gauge. Lovely and growly.

I’ve got rounds on my BB435 which I’ll be replacing this weekend with a set of stainless rounds, still the stock rounds on my BB734, and GHS pressurewounds on my BB300. I’m betting you meant TRBXs though.

I did mean TRBX. I’ve only bought used (not new) basses before and never even had to change strings yet. But, I think experimenting is in order.

I was buying new strings for one of my basses every 2 weeks for most of last summer, just trying to get a good sense of what my tastes are. I got real good at changing them out. After that, @howard talked me into leaving the rounds on my 734 when I got that, and it turns out I don’t hate rounds like I thought. I just don’t like cheap rounds.

Yes, I do think the new rounds will mellow out after a bit. I have always liked D’addario for guitar, but not yet found my way with bass strings. Looking forward to the experimentation. Thanks.

I got my BB434 with DR HI-BEAM, round stainless, medium (45-105). I’m getting used to the stainless, but I don’t love the feel on my fingers and have a set of NYXL, same gauges, to swap to.

I’ve got a set of Stringjoy Stainless to throw on my 435 next time they need a string change. They’ll be my first stainless rounds, we’ll see how that goes. I think I’m going to put a set of SIT’s I’ve got sitting around on my 734 this weekend. I haven’t been fond of the stock ones the last week or two.

How would rotosounds do on them?

Bright rounds do great. Never used RotoSounds myself.

DR Nickel Lo Riders 45-100

Tried prosteels and hated them. My E string sounded like a piano :joy:

Thanks. I will check them out.
