Acceptable Pizza Toppings: Discuss

Still open and expanded to several other places, including within walking distance to my house. We get it (we meaning everyone but me) on Fridays, to me it beats NYC pizza. During the summer they do fresh tomatoes instead of sauce - heaven. Their ovens are coal fired and crazy hot, giving some seriously good burn on the crust and thin goodness in the middle.

As far as Chicago pizza goes, its Gino’s East, all the way, but only the downtown one, the ‘burbs one is terrible. But has to be sausage, love the giant disc o sausage that spans the entire pie. YUM!

oh my goodness it was!!! I would never have remembered the name but it has come back to me now!

When it was college days (my best friend from childhood went to New Haven U) we would walk on down, and wait in line which was usually 90 minutes to get in. So not surprised they expanded.

Funny music story. My friend and I hung “The Ant Man cometh” all over campus to troll and get people talking as a prank. Then Adam Ant came out and had a gig in the gym, and everyone thought that’s what it was about. Wasn’t, he wasn’t out when we started the thing but it was amusing none the less.

Also heard George Lucas talk in the auditorium there, between the first and second movie, and he was a pretty nice down to earth guy in those days before it really blew up.

I love eating pizza when I travel to see the different toppings available. Trashy McDonald’s, too, so I can see what nugget sauces everyone has XD

The quality of the meat in nuggets in every country in Europe I have been to surpasses that in the US anywhere I have been. The Nugget Factor :tm:

This is seriously a thing. The quality of US fast food outside the US is far, far higher than inside the US. At least in Japan, China, and Germany; never tried it anywhere else I have visited.

Mostly probably because it’s made by adults and not stoned teenagers.

My brother in law and two of my niblings are lactose intolerant. And before they had an enzyme pill, my sister used to raise goats and make home made goat cheese as goat’s milk doesn’t have any lactose. And one of the cheeses they made was mozzarella, and it really tasted about the same. If you put goat’s milk on your cereal and I didn’t tell you, you wouldn’t know the difference from any fresh milk. Cause my sister did that to me.

When they came out with the pill the goats got sold.

I doubt the food quality is higher in say Thailand or Viet Nam. I have relatives from both and their meat is a tad sketchy.

Europe I would totally buy having standards

You should see US export beef

I have high standards for meat and US export beef pisses me off, because I know how good US domestic beef is - among the best in the world really. But Australia and New Zealand export way better beef than we do.

I dunno - that doesn’t change the supplier. The frozen nugget will still be the same crappy processed chicken, regardless of who deep-frys it. To have a “better quality nugget (burger/whatever)”, you’d need to source it from a different supplier.

That’s a good point, I actually do not know if they locally source or ship frozen.

I like goat milk and drink it from time to time, but to me it has a different taste than cow milk. It’s subtle, but I can taste the difference.

It’s udderly subtle.

by the way you really can make excellent pizza at home in a regular oven, just make sure you get a pizza steel. really is a game changer. i have this one, absolutely completely worth it:

Yeah, save the anchovies for the Caesar salad.

No to pineapple.

I have an Ooni oven I was given on Father’s Day.
I have to say it makes great pizza and is a royal PITA.

I would honestly much rather just order pizza.
By the time the oven is hot I could be eating.
Cleanup is a mess and cool off takes a long time etc.
not for me.

i don’t really get the point of these. for the same price you can get a pretty decent ceramic smoker that can reach 800F for a great pizza, but also do a ton more.
