FYI…
Woohoo! Time to scarf up the rest of the courses I’ve been wanting.
Just picked up a few of Marks TLKGBSS courses. Got an extra 10 percent off on top of the 30 for new member.
BassBuzz is going faster than I expected.
Good move! Which ones did ya get?
Fundamentals, Sight Reading , Chords Tone Essentials
Finished B2B a couple of months ago and have recently skipped though it again from the dreaded “Billie Jean” which was okay second time around. Have been looking for somewhere
to go now. Just signed up to Study Bass.
Great choices. Those courses will take you far.
Good choices
Well, after checking a lot of different sites, I went back to SBL. I found that I had not originally started in the right place and it was my lack of navigation skills on the site that soured my opinion of him as a teacher. I took his initial quiz, it told me the best place to start on the Players Path. I clicked into it and “voila”, he was teaching me songs at a level that I can do and progresses slightly to the next level only after being able to complete the one before it. Almost, but not quite the way Josh introduced concepts then walked you through how to use them. His meandering talking is further in the course and deals with theory. I did have to start at Level One but it is the perfect compliment to Josh’s teaching. I had started at an intermediate level originally and it just so happened to be one heavily leaning into theory, hence the abundance of dry lecturing . Hopefully, I can report back as time goes and really digest what he is teaching. Wish me luck!
Cool, @EddieJones. Best of luck with your studies.
@EddieJones best wishes and success with SBL.
I continue to work Rich Brown,s instructional videos and find every single one of them really useful and helpful. And the guy is just so darned nice and a great instructor.
I like Rich Brown a lot. I ran across his videos a few months ago and was struck by his style.
DITTO!
Player’s Path is great (unlike the “Fundamentals” course which he goes on tangents skill wise). Scott doesn’t really ramble on these courses, but his style never bothered me neither. Don’t forget to check out the recommended courses for alternate material that may help with the level your on. I’m halfway through level 3, but decided to take a step back and do the sight reading courses from Phill Mann. Ariane Cap has some good courses as well. The forums (“campus”) are very dry and straight to the point, but very helpful people in there. I’m not at a level to do the Learning Pathways yet, but it’s the latest more focused addition (intermediate level).
Biggest downside to SBL is the barrage of email promotions. You’ll want to adjust your email settings. Also, if you ever plan on the lifetime subscription, wait for the half price offers.
Either way best of luck on your learning.
Yep,nothing but mass email marketing… I had to unsubscribe.
I get at least one per day. I just delete them unopened.
You can just unsubscribe. You’ll never get another email.
I know, but every now and then the subject sounds interesting so I check it out. Most of the time I just delete them.
