that’s what I did first to make sure it was working outside of DAW
Like I said, I can see it in Reaper and can add it as an effect, but it produces no sound either from the virtual keyboard or my keyboard.
I’m tracking you, I was just trying to get one possible failure point out of the way (the DAW) and wanted to make sure it worked as a standalone first.
No, it does not work standalone. Not with the virtual keyboard nor my MIDI keyboard.
I’m stumped…
No worries. I’m happy with my free Piano One for now, and am eyeballing some better piano plugins on the Piano One site. Just have to wait for the sales.
My time is valuable and I’d rather spend a little money than waste half a day trying to get some freebee working, as I did today.
@howard always posts those great sales and sites with plugins at very cheap prices.
PluginBoutique is having a sale right now, in fact. And giving away a decent parametric EQ plugin.
It does?
I think the only problem with it is it has a little less automatic “magic” than logic or Ableton. But it probably has fewer limitations.
It seems to in this case. It appears this is a Reaper only issue, but then I could be mistaken (as I often am).
Yeah that seems unlikely, since it isn’t working outside of Reaper either. I think this is likely either the MIDI input or audio output settings of the piano plugin/app.
UVI generally makes good stuff (Falcon is a great synthesizer). Try asking them?
So you’re familiar with them? I figured it must some 3rd world company that Arturia threw in with. I’m not impressed at the moment.
UVI is top tier.
@howard it’s working on my setup both in and out of the DAW. Pam and I have the same controller, so it’s weird. As I said, worked in Ableton and LPX. Just strange that it was not working outside of the DAW.
Really? Based on my experience with the grand piano app, I certainly wouldn’t spend any money with them. But, if you like them, I’m okay with that
UVI make great instruments and synth emulation as well as a creative take on effects but I would never judge what the entire company does based on just a mobile app. UVI is great but so is Arturia.
Yeah both companies are among the most respected in music software (and for Arturia, hardware) for sure.
I keep meaning to buy UVI’s ESQ-1 emulation. It’s supposed to be perfect.
Well, I already purchased a Grand Piano from the company that makes Piano One (which I like), so I have no interest in pursuing this app from UVI. You guys say it’s a great company, and maybe it is, but I have a sour taste in my mouth after having wasted several hours trying to get their app to work.
Since you have the same controller why not install Reaper, it’s free, and see if it works for you.
Here’s a link if you are interested in trying

Just a thought.
Yes but using the app on your phone is different than using an entire workhorse synth like Falcon in your DAW on your PC. I don’t use music apps because I think alltogether it’s not a serious approach for me personally so I just don’t use apps. Unless they are helper apps like circle of 5ths.
But not studio tools, although I know you can build an entire studio setup just on apps and devices. It’s just not for me. I prefer the DAW workflow and my experience with UVI has always been great. Especially their FX.
I don’t use apps on my phone. Why are you even bringing this up? I use my phone to make phone calls and to text, occasionally I use the camera.
