Any sexy new basses you've got your eye on?

two was Lucifuge. 3 was How the Gods Kill which was a really good album (and song)

That said, 1 was the best!

agreed

I just saw this three headed monster in a Chris Squire Rig Rundown and while I think the three necks a bit too gimmicky I really like that leather pickguard - anyone know if there are any production basses with leather pick guards?

Yeah…I’m a big Rob Zombie fan. One of the first CD’s I bought for myself was Hellbilly Deluxe.

Almost got to see a show in Atlanta when I was hauling over the road, but dispatch screwed my plans. A bit too young to remember White Zombie (By about 3-4 years).

Only heavy metal concert I went to was Cannibal Corpse when I was 15, snuck in illegally. It was…an interesting experience. Not one that didn’t want me to do it again, but quite the eye opener. Moshed there too.

Funnily enough, the only rock shirt I have is one of Rob’s.

“Panty-waist nancy boy of a devil worshipper.”

That’s sig material, my friend.

Yeah, I could not get into his solo stuff. I did not love Astro creep
But
La sexercisto: Devil music vol. 1

That was one of my top albums in the 90’s for sure. That and Vulgar display of player. I had them on cassette when we had those in our cars. We played those two all the time. And Slayer Seasons in the Abyss. And reign in blood, and south of heaven
And Motörhead Iron Fist
Ministry - Psalm 69

Those were the things blasting in my ride in early 90’s, by late 90,s with grunge everywhere, I went back to punk rock only

I hated Metallica. I liked the first 3 mega wimp albums, but they sold out as hard as Metallica, and didn’t even get paid as much.

yeah i like that a lot.

I have been thinking about buying this really cool 6 string from a pawn shop near me that is accctually a converted fender Strat. Thoughts? it has the main body of a fender strat with dual single coil pickups and the whammy bar. it is in olympic white and was made in 1998 Any thing I should be cautious of?

Well, she arrived this morning. Apologies for all the flash reflections in the pic but she really is a beauty. In my last post I couldn’t decide between the violet or red fade. I loved the violet - so different from the norm, but I also liked the jewel-like quality of the red fade. In the end, as I was 50|50 I asked SWMBO and she said, “Well if you like them both equally go for the red fade because it’s £100 cheaper”. Can’t argue with her logic so that’s what I went for. First impressions. I’ll admit, I was nervous, having never played it before ordering online but I’m so happy. Really comfortable body and neck and super light as well. One silly thing I really like compared to my jazz bass is the size and position of the neck pickup. On the jazz bass, the pickups are very narrow and not deep at all meaning there is only a small (and quite sharp) ledge of plastic for a thumb rest. The precision style neck pick up on the Spector is much wider and I can tell straight away I’m going to be happier anchoring my thumb on it. Can’t wait until I have time to give it a thorough shake-down tonight.

That is one beautiful bass, @chris6 . . . . :star_struck:

I like those fret markers as well as the color!
Good luck, and hope you get a lot of enjoyment with it.

Cheers

@chris6 congrats! You made the right choice… Price has nothing to do with it; red basses (just like red motorcycles) are just better :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What a coincidence, my last bike:

It’s true. Red’s just faster.

Ok, I’ll play… I REALLY want a Schecter SLS Elite-4!!! Here’s how I got here…

I’ve been following LowEndLobster’s channel on YouTube for a while now. I really enjoy his reviews, and he makes me laugh. He has a video where he puts a Fishman Fluence Pickups and Preamp kit in a Solar bass. WOW, I loved the way this thing sounds, so many options!!!..

So that led me to thinking about putting them in my Ibanez SR370E. I think it’s doable, unless it really requires a lot of body modification, and the soldering doesn’t scare me at all. However the Pickup/preamp kit cost just about what I paid for my B-stock Ibanez. I’ve stuck with this new hobby of mine for almost a year and I really do love it, and I’d REALLY like a NEW bass  Cause then I’ll have 2 and have more options depending on what I want to play.

So let the research begin… The Fishman Fluence quest led me to Schecter, which has the SLS Elite series of basses that come with the Fishman Fluence pickups and preamp already baked in. Shopping. Wow… this bass has everything I think I’m looking for. Looks great, neck through construction, strung trough the body, and the Fishman Fluence pickups and preamp I already like with the different voicings and single coil mode options. It’s really everything I’m looking for.

There are only a hand full of videos on the Schecter SLS Elite series. This one is pretty good and I’m not worried about his Victor Wooten/slap concerns at all LOL…

So this leads me to the only two problems I have.

Problem 1: I really want to go try this bass out before I buy it!!! But I’ve discovered that where I live in Upstate NY is a black hole for any bass I’m interested in. Most of the music shops are very small, have very few basses, and are an hour+ from my house if they have any inventory to speak of. There is small Schecter dealer about an hour north, but they don’t have one according to their web site inventory. There is a Guitar Center about an hour south but the status on all the colors on their web site is “This item is backordered but is available to reserve now.” So I’m not really sure how to pull this task off.

Problem 2: What color to pick??? I really do like them all, but I an only afford ONE  I think the Antique Fade Burst looks great with that red fade out. But so does the black fade burst, which is the current leader in my brain. The all black satin one (called the evil twin) looks great too! just worries me that it will be like every black car I’ve ever owned and any mark, dust, or even finger print will stick out like a beacon in the night. But the black one does just look well… evil and I’m digging the glow in the dark side markers and the roman numerals on the frets. Still leaning towards the black fade burst color though… Sigh… decisions decisions…

Thanx
Chris

Black fade or matte imo, looks like a fun bass.

Those colours choices seem to fall into two distinct camps which should help you decide, dependent on the style of music you like to play. I’m old school, I love jazz and blues and 60s rock so I’m a sucker for anything like that antique fade burst but if you are into more modern harder rock or metal then the matt or black fade would probably suit better.
