Nice to know. Thank you.
I already have one rated at 1Amp and intend to power it that way.
Go over to the Zoom B1 4 or B1 4X thread.

Maybe the B1X Four comes with a power adapter, but the B1 Four (without the expression pedal) doesn’t.
I blame you for this. I started negotiating and contacted luthier who created it about specifics.
You can blame me for many years to come if you get it.
Wow, that’s really a one-of-a-kind bass
I’ll enjoy blaming you, in positive way

I don’t really like Stingray type basses, but that is friggin’ GORGEOUS. Buy that thing before I do it!
I’ll blame him for making me happy with the choice
Well it’s official, wifey gave seal of approval.
Wow, that is sick. I will blame you if you don’t get it
Serious, that is really nice.
Plus I love neck thru Basses, and not very many real Sterlings are neck thru, and the ones that are, cost a lot.
Congrats! You’ve got yourself a truly unique instrument there.
so great.
Buy it buy it buy it!
Yeah I settled with the guy on the price, however I have to wait till 22nd cause he is in isolation. Damn pandemic…
I had stated this way back when you first showed this gorgeous bass.
So, it looks like a Sterling, not a Stingray. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, as long as you understand the differences and are going to be happy with it.
The Sterling is not a Stingray, so if you are dead set on a Stingray, and you get a Sterling, you might be disappointed. Or you may not notice, and love it all the same. I would love to own a Sterling sometime.
So, on your bass, it has the teardrop pick guard, but it does not have a control cover, like classic stingrays. That is one give away that it is a Sterling.
That on its own would not make it absolutely be a Sterling, however it looks to have a toggle switch. If in fact that is a selector switch, then it is probably the 3 way pick up selector. You can have the pick up in parallel, in series and single coil.
At first, that sounds like it is just making the Stingray way more versatile, and for some it probably does, and they are happy with those tones and not so much worried about the Stingray tone,
To me, that is no reason to NOT BUY it. as a matter of fact, we are all gonna come up and dog pile on you if you don’t.
I am more just preparing you for this instrument prior to getting it, and then not realizing it is a Sterling and not a Stingray
Also, with the Sterling you get a few features that I kind of find desirable.
The body is a little smaller and a bit lighter, and the neck is a Sterling neck which is a Jazz neck. The Stingray is more of a Stingray neck, which is just a tiny bit smaller than a P neck. Plus the Sterling has an extra fret on the neck, it is a 22 fret neck instead of 21. Does it matter, depends on you . I go up there sometimes, so its nice to have.
Of course, this could all work in your favor down the line too
You know, during GAS month.
After calling and finding the Ray4 you want to buy from the music shop.
"Later Hun, off to to get a Ray4
“whats a ray4”
“oh, its a stingray, kind of the big brother to sterling over there”
“Wait, you said Sterling was a Stingray”
“No, no, you got it all wrong, we went over this, that Sterling is an EBMM style sterling, not an SBMM Sterling stingray Ray4 I am getting is an EBMM Stingray, made by Sterling, but this sterling is not EBMM or SBMM…”
“Don’t get cute with me, you say Sterling the Stingray, then EBMM Sterling SBMM Stingray, and Timmy the tool, who else are you going to pick up, sponge bob.” Get out of here you, here is your card, and btw, mamma only put $400 on it, go get what ever thing from the sea you are going to get, just stop lying about it., AND NO CHEATING…"
"YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!! SCOOOOOOOOOREEEE. I just got green lighted to go get a Ray4 and a pick up to swap out, then I will bring the Ray home to keep Sterling company.
Sorry, it is so dead on the forum of late, I am making my own fun.
So, really
it really is worth getting it. Don’t force it to be a Stingray, and don’t fret on it being a Sterling. It looks immaculate, the colors are really freaking cool. It is a neck thru design, and it is a ONE OF A KIND. So what if you are ticking off the Sterling box and not the Stingray box. I guarantee you that you can get Ray4 for $300 or less (used) at another time, and then you can customize it to be YOUR one of a kind. Then you have two one of a kind basses you didn’t even break $800 to own.
If I could find a Sterling Sterling (yes, they made them for a few years, but people try to get way too much for them, but if I found one for like $200, I will be all over it.
SOOOO
Unless you hold it, and play it for a bit, and plug it in an listen to thru an amp and see if you can dial in a sweet spot, then go full on Jaco and bust out a bass solo for 20 min. Unplug it, look it over, look up the neck and down the back side, check out every square inch for scratches, and tell him.
Yeah man, thanks for the Jam, I am not digging the bass, call me some time, C’ya. Peace…
Yeah, if you have any doubts about quality, or how much you might not like playing it, then you should GET IT ANYWAY, I mean its a one of a kind.
No, if you don’t like it an you want to get a Ray4 instead, thats all gravy.
I just don’t want you to look at as an inferior product to a stingray, since it is a sterling. They are not one greater than the there. There is one that came first. There is one that is way more well knows, but they are both top quality instruments that cost relatively the same from EBMM
No seriously, if you absolutely can’t connect with it, don’t like the weight, feel, colors in person, anything you might not like, and if you don’t buy it, its ok.
But if you like it enough to take it home and learn the Sterling pup settings and start to like the jazz neck, etc… I would say get it, and don’t let the fact it is modeled after a Sterling rather then a Stingray.
Maybe I should have started off with "did you see where I told you it was a Sterling and not a Stingray way back when you posted it?
You may have said yes, and then all this show I just put on would have been for not.
So, was it a good sho? or was it all for NOT!!!
Hah, I can see you miss some discussion.
Well honestly at the beginning I didnt even realize there’s difference between Sterling and Stingray, until I came here and met you. But after your educational info onto these subjects and all these confusing models and sub-models I can say I prefer slimmer Sterling look and Jazzy neck. I honestly love these crazy colors on this custom STERLING, and still says StingRay on head tho
.
Oh that switch is not 3 way switch. It has custom made preamp, and that is an active/passive switch.
But anyway it’s settled that I will buy it, I mean it’s one of a kind. Thats enough to get it.
Ok, cool
I really just wanted you to be aware. I said it way back in the tread but did not notice if you saw it.
I love the thing, and you would have to verify the pick up specs, and how it iw wird, and maybe it will have that Stingray growl, even tho it is the Sterling.
BTW, I much prefer the 5 string Sterling to the 5 string Stingray.
I love that the Sterling kept the teardrop pickguard, where the Stingray 5 has thats stupid morphed from a tear drop to a control panel pick guard, and I do not like it.
I believe that you can change the pick guard on the 5 and get a teardrop and cover plate, and not have any pockets open / showing.
but I would still just go with the Sterling 5 since it has the thinner neck and for the 5, the body should be bigger, almost as big as the Stingray 4 body
I can’t wait to see you hold it and hear you play it.
That humbucker is also handmade custom shop pickup by the same luthier.
They swear by it, but I’ll know for sure once I get it.
I kinda like to think of this bass as hybrid of best things between Stingray and Sterling.
