Haha, nice one! This one might not have neck dive issues, but perhaps …uhm butt dive issues?!
Ha, yeah, cricket matches can go on for days, so some entertainment is probably needed! Being from the States, it’s a virtually unknown sport here, and anytime I’ve watched it, I’ve all but fallen asleep, but then, baseball’s too slow for me too.
Maybe one of the creative bass builders on here can stick a bass neck and headstock on that bat instead?!
@Vik: I checked into it and apparently the guy that makes them got a patent on the design. That completely goes against the sharing nature of home-built instrument communities I belong to. What a schmuck.
What, on the cricket bat guitar? What’s the point? There are never going to be more than a handful in the world so he’s not going to get rich on the licensing revenue. A patent isn’t a cheap thing to get.
Intellectual Property is an odd area though, and often people say “patent” when they mean “copyright”, or “copyright” when they mean “trademark”. I own a couple of trademarks and had to look into this stuff. Then of course there is the difference between countries - and then there’s China…
This was wonderful to read.
And, agreed.
It’s much more common in the shred-metal community than most people think.
Don’t know which thread to categorize this in:
Okay, gonna take a break from the internet for a few days, getting a bit too sidetracked…
Holy…Bob Marley!!
Kind of amazed that a completely hollow resin and epoxy bass still ended up weighing 9 pounds.
Dingwall 4-string, strung BEAD, nice long scale in the B. Darkglass electronics, radial fanned frets, carbon fiber pickguard.
Way out of my budget but wow.
I agree! Now, people are spending good money to buy jeans with rips and holes in them so they can walk around looking like slobs. I’ve probably thrown away a million dollars worth of old jeans.
Oh, my GAWD!
I never thought of THAT angle, Pam . . . good one!
Cheers, penniless Joe
In a perfect world, on top of the basses I already own, I’d also have one of these . . .
and a fretted version of this . . .
This is one stunning bass (I like especially the matching headstock): Mayones Jabba PJ 4 Hadrien Feraud Signature
That is a sweet looking Bass. I’m currently practicing (can’t really call what I am doing “playing”) on the cheapest Squier J Bass imaginable.
My plan is that once I have finished Josh’s course, I’ll treat myself with a proper Bass. A passive Sandberg California is certainly right up there. My configuration. Not aged, but roasted maple neck lies around EUR 1500/1600. Perhaps I’ll buy one of that shelf - I’ve found these for EUR 1200/1300. That’s a ton of money for a beginner to spend on a bass, but my reasoning is that with an awesome instrument, I’ll be more “inspired” and motivated to play.
Again: Sweet design. Hope you’ll buy one someday…
Wanted to comment on your Sandberg post and somehow messed that up. Apologies…
Not to worry
Yeah, Sandberg basses are awesome! We had had this link in the Friday music thread somewhere before, but check out the sound of the California in this video:
Killer tone. At 34/109 right now. When I am around lesson 80, I am ordering one!! Haha. Cheers.
