Boss Waza Air Bass

Amazing, I am a PITA about hearing my bass’ tone naturally.
These do amazing job with this, low/high/mid you name it.

Thanks. I’ll definitely pick these up

There’s definitely a learning curve to them and I haven’t explored all of the functions yet, but @John_E is right…it’s got wonderful bass response.

Well I have finally decided and bit the bullet. One Boss IR-200 pedal on it’s way to me! I’m hoping it will give me good options for recording both guitar and bass and we will soon see what it sounds like plugged into my Yamaha HS8’s and sub-woofer!

Nothing but good reviews about the Boss IR200. It has been sold out for months.

Curious to hear what you think about it!

I could only find it in stock at one on-line shop in the UK. It probably will arrive on Wednesday. When I have had a chance to play with a bit I will gladly post my thoughts on it.

There is a good chance that this a returned unit that they just sold to the next customer.
This is what happened to me when I bought the GT-1000CORE. I didn’t mind, they still have to give me the warranty as if it was new, and used units on Reverb go for more than new.

Just as a heads up. Check the unit when it arrives if it is in a condition you are happy with and everything is in the package. (And anyway, it might be a brand new one. This should now be around the time that shops expect new stock from Boss)

@Malyngo
Thanks for the heads up on that. I hadn’t thought of that!

So, I had IR200 and decided to send it back recently.
While the quality of sound was better than my pretty basic (especially from bass perspective) Mustang Micro,
the sum of issues/nuances I got with it made me send it back.

  • noise - this was the biggest one, as I kind of knew about others before buying it. For some reason it was quite noisy (with my guitar and bass) in my environment. Also, I noticed that touching knobs on IR200 was audible through my headphones.
  • lack of power switch button - essentially you need to plug/unplug each time you want to play
  • no bluetooth support - I know I can plug in a receiver
  • less mobile than some other headphone practice options available on the market

Just to be clear, this is great device. Built like a tank.
It just didn’t work out for me and my needs. This is why I keep looking.
Boss Waza Air Bass and Darkglass Element are on my list.

Thanks for your review @jacq . Too bad it didn’t worked out for you.

Some points to consider for the DG Element:

  • always needs a power adapter to run (no batteries)
  • can be used for guitar and bass
  • includes a noise suppressor, EQ and basic power amps
  • Darkglass cab sims are really good
  • lacks amp sims and effects (I used preamp pedals in front)

So I think the big pro of the Boss Waza Air Bass is that it’s super mobile and includes amp sims, but it’s only suitable for bass.

I have had my WAZA air bass headset for a couple of months now.
I have really enjoyed using the Bluetooth function of importing my own music into them and playing along, the sound is awesome, they are pricey but are pretty robust and have decent battery life on both the headset and the transmitter.

What do you mean by “importing my own music” @TNKA36 ? Does it have an internal storage?

No internal storage @jacq ,
What I mean is I Bluetooth my music from iTunes into the headset.
It’s like listening to the music through you’re sound system and playing your bass along through your amp,
Only difference is it’s all done through the WAZA air headset without disturbing anyone in the house and the sound reproduction is really nice, plus you have the ability to play around with the inbuilt EQ to make your bass fit nicely in the mix with the song👍
Hope that explains it a little better :+1:

Using Bluetooth, you can pipe pretty much any audio source from your laptop or phone into the headphones, and even have the ability to adjust the volume on the 'phones without affecting the bass volume.

There is a bit of internal storage, but that is for 6 sound/amp settings. (You can have more than 6 or change the 6 residing in the 'phones, but that requires the use of an accompanying app).

So I bought a Waza and am underwhelmed. I don’t think the headphones sound all that great and they’re kinda small and uncomfortable. The thing where you turn your head and the sound changes is a useless gimmick.

I like the much NUX better. In my view you’re paying a lot of money to eliminate a headphone cable that has never been an issue for me with the NUX.

You can change that by pressing one of the square buttons on the right headphone. I use the headphones and G19 adapter a lot, especially during our B2B Hangouts

Well gang, my Waza Air has an issue already.
The transmitter has a little spring loaded button switch that engages when you plug it into a bass. It’s bound up and/or spring isn’t strong enough and stays stuck in the on position. If I give the tip of the plug a good knock on a table/desk it will shut off.

Email request has been sent for a replacement. I can’t find a phone number anywhere for Roland/boss USA.

Let’s see how they do.

Having one myself, I’ll be curious to see what they say

Me too, will be good to see how they support the product.

Sheesh, you’d think that an expensive product made for playing bass on the go would be a little more robust than that.

Yeah, hopefully they stand by their product, and not cheap out on customer service. Let us know.
