Caveman Audio

According to the builder it also improves your playing :relieved:

Ugh. Yeah, it said it was a paid promotion at the beginning but when he read the copy from the owner it was, as the kids say, cringe.

My thoughts exactly

There is no compressor pedal I would pay $400 for, and the only ones I would consider anything near that amount for are pretty far from transparent

These are studio grade components performance the size of a pedal and not the same as live gig pedals. Playing it through a colored monitors or speakers probably won’t sound a lot different side by side but put through a reference monitor like Meyer sound HD1 I’m sure you can hear noticeable differences. That’s not very forgiving if it sounds good there it sounds good everywhere.

That preamp better have only one single knob labeled ā€œtoneā€ ranging from ā€œawesomeā€ to ā€œincredibleā€

This is particularly funny because I was reading some old threads and realized @Mike_NL has been calling for more single knob pedals since 2020!:+1:

What can I say? I like simplicity

Oh I’m all done with compressors, went big once so I never have to look back. And happy I did. Not o ly is it fantastical, but looks like it’s appreciating in value already like crazy business.

i used to own and really love that spectracomp. the one knob thing really throws people because it has about a bazillion adjustments you can do with it, but you do it through a pc instead of on the pedal itself. iirc you can also use their cell phone app to do it too.

is that the lundahl one? becuz, if so, then, dammmmn :astonished:

Oh man! Just when I thought I’d found the one for me… It has a single hardware knob, but a gazillion software settings? Does it at least come with a couple of presets? (Edit: just checked, and it does)

a ton of presets (ā€œtoneprintsā€). as I recall there’s probably about 50 or more. loading them into your pedal is super easy, the app plays a tone and you hold the phone next to your bass pickup to flash the pedal. dead simple.

Ok that’s actually the one compressor I wouldn’t complain about the ridonculous price on. But I would get it as a real 1176 rackmount.

In reality I should just get UA’s plugin, since they are in fact Bill Putnam’s company. They make a real one too, looks awesome.

Don’t get lured into the UA ecosystem!

The native plugins from UA are a good step forward, but IMO you really don’t want to be ā€œstuckā€ with plugins that can only be used with a DAI from UA.

I actually sold my DAI, but the buyer never registered it so I still got access to all the related plugins. So weird…

I hate that. I refuse to get an iLok key, just always tie to machines.

Argh you beat me to my edit :joy:
Same deal tho

Waves’ plugin is supposed to be good too but I dislike them as a company. The ironic thing is I do not remember why

Pretty sure it was the forced update (v10+ plugins) and subscription plan.
