I need a better strap, the final strap that I’ll use forever. This decades old guitar strap has been working ok, although the smooth pleather backing slips around too much. I think it’s time for a real bass strap, and I see there are a kazillion options out there. Do you have a strap you love?
Strap threads are on the forum. Use the magnifying glass icon to search for any topic you’re interested in. Chances are, there are a lot of answers there.
For example, here’s this:
hey mate, I use a 3,5 inch wide leather strap that I like alot, dont know if its from some fanzy brand, just bought it at the music store, but the underside of the leather is grippy when using head heavy basses and does not slip, and the wideness of it makes it easy even with super heavy bass
hope this helps, if you have a music store close, just go and check out what thay got, always good to support local companies… that is if you want to have local companies

Just bought a new strap recently, that I really like. It is made by a company from Spain, called Righton!
It is 80mm wide and with a nice grip, which hold my bass nicely in place. It’s quite expensive, but reels like premium quality. I bought it from a local shop, and did get a better price, than the listed price.
The strap I used previously, was from the same company, and a great strap as well. With the old strap, the cord for my headphone kept getting caught between the lower and the upper part of the strap, but that is an issue very specific to my setup.
Thanks! Duh, I just figured it out. I could not find any search option on my iphone 14PM, but I knew there had to be one somewhere. Anyways, if I rotate my phone horizontally, more forum options show up including the search / magnifying glass.
Thanks for prompting me to hunt down the search button. Looks like I’ve got some reading to do! ![]()
Wow, that’s a nice one! I’m not sure I’m a good enough bassist for a strap that nice! Ha! ![]()
That’s a good idea. That made me remember the last time I was in my local shop, they had a narrow table with like a 100 straps laying across it. I should probably go dig through the pile! … Plus it’s always fun to burn an afternoon in the guitar store.!
My straps end up dedicated to each instrument. The 40 year old strap on my ibanez is a wide leather strap and is locked on with Well Hung ends that never come off without a lot of work. So much so that I make copies for all my instruments. I avoid straps with any kind of sliding adjustment buckle. Having slots is the way to go. I plan to copy the strap soon since I have the leather hide and as soon as things slow down will get on it.
Funny thing about three months ago, I bought a strap on temu just because and it is super comfy. Ordered half a dozen more and they are all stiff as a board. I figured what the hell since GC has overpriced straps and no wide leather so the local Tandy company keeps getting my business.
If anyone is interested in Well Hung copies send me a PM and I will send some your way. I have a few colors to choose from.
@myowlhasantlers makes their own and they are stunning! You should check out

THere’s so many good ones in there.
Thanks for helping me spend my money! I just bought 3: the light brown, brown and black Fakey straps. “Fakey” threw me for a minute until I remembered that Spain and many other European countries use fixed Do solfège (Do=C, Re=D, Mi=E and Fa=F), so Fa-Key or F clef! Kind of clever IMO.
And talk about customer service! I received the order confirmation email at 10h46. I received the UPS tracking number email at 11h19. That’s amazing!
I really like my Franklin straps, but I expect the Right On! straps to go on my most played basses.
Well, in my case I can confirm, that I’m definitely not a good enough bassist for a strap that nice. But, that didn’t stop me.
It is on the expensive side and I understand that some people prioritizes differently.
My pleasure.
Hadn’t noticed the name, and wouldn’t have figured it out anyway. ![]()
I hope that you will like your new straps, as much as I do. If not I guess might be in trouble. ![]()
I’ve been a big fan of Levy’s 3.5–4.5” padded leather straps. They can be on the pricier side but super comfortable and durable AF.
Kliq Air Cell. So comfortable.
I have one of those wide (vegan) leather straps and it’s unbelievably uncomfortable; Christmas pressie from my mum few years back. My favourites are Fender’s furry plush straps. I have three and I love them:

My leather straps were produced by vegans too.

As long as they’re not made OF vegans… ![]()
I’ve tried many different straps over the years but lately I found the perfect strap for pretty much any guitar; even ones with neck dive tendencies. If you are budget minded like me, and are looking for a wide, padded strap that comes in multiple colours and designs than head to Temu and do search on “wide padded guitar strap" . Yes, Temu! For 23 dollars Canadian, I found my perfect strap. I can’t give you the exact link but here’s a description… 3.5 in wide, 6 or 7 colours with 2 different prints, foam padded cloth with PU straps. Hope that helps!
