The learning curve continues.

The band is switching to IEMs and I’ve just bought us a digital mixer (Behringer X Air Series 18) so that we can all have our own individual mixes in our ears controlled from an app on our phones.

The future’s so bright…

The GAS continues :dollar_banknote: :money_mouth_face: . I’ve added an XLR splitter and a road case, so we can rack mount everything. Will post pics when I’ve put it all together and labeled it.

Behringer XR18 Digital mixer.

Pair of recessed rack ears for XR18 mixer (So I can keep the short XLR tail from the splitter permanently wired to the mixer and close the case).

Seismic Audio - Rack mount 16 Channel XLR TRS Combo Splitter Snake Cable - 15’and 30’ XLR trunks

Don’t know what any of that is or does but sounds awesome! :sign_of_the_horns:t2::rofl:

What a coincidence, I have a rack mount audio interface/digital mixer/monitor controller arriving today. Mine’s an Audient EVO 16. 8 in/8 out (ADAT expandable to 24/24.)

Setup and testing today with a band mate.

Radial Power conditioner for all the juice.

XLR into the Seismic Audio XLR splitter. 1/2 signal goes to a 30’ XLR snake with the XLR tails for FOH. The other 1/2 goes into the front of the Behringer XR18 digital mixer.

We’re running the Mixing Station app on our phones to control the individual IEM mixes (5 of those) plus the main FOH mix on an Ipad.

It all sits nicely in the Gator case.

So far so good. Just playing around with gain staging and some EQ / Compression etc that’s built into the software. Will find out next rehersal how it all comes together.

Think it’s going to be alright. I’m in for about $2000, so not crazy money to get what we want.
Bought a $30 label maker to tidy things up a bit and make it easy for the drummer

Nice work on keeping the cabling sane. For portable stuff that gets lugged, depending on how deep the chassis are you might want to look in to internal support too so it’s not just the 19" rack ears getting torqued by a long chassis, but if not they are stronger than you might think and are fine without it too. There’s rear side shelves you can buy for a real rack like yours if you do want to.

My desk doesn’t have that option so I am limited to the rack ears.

Tested it all tonight and it’s a success. Will try it with the band tomorrow at rehearsal. Still feels weird playing bass through IEMs rather than an amp.

Now you’ll need one of those

Another great gig. Packed bar. 2 hr set, with lots of people up dancing.

Ran the BassRig Fifteen with the cab sim toggled on into FOH and then amp out 1/4” into my Mark Bass head / 2x12 cabs. Sounded fantastic.

We got free dinner, open bar (endless mojitos :cocktail_glass:) and $500.

It’s just too much fun playing live

New pedal board / setup ready for Saturday’s gig.

Large Gator Aluminum Pedal board (includes a nice soft case). Had the small Gator but outgrew it.

Another gig tonight. 50th birthday party at a local historical venue. I think she’s got 150 people at the gig :star_struck:

The band added a couple of new songs (at the request of the birthday girl) including this 80’s classic. Worth it just to nail the timing on the great drum fill near the end. Keep practicing kids, it’s totally worth it.

Fun gig last night. 50th birthday party that went on until 2am! A shortened set of just 18 songs, as there were two bands on the bill.

They were at maximum capacity (200); so a good crowd, who were up for a party.

The new IEMs + Digital mixer worked perfectly.

Plus they had a green room. I mean come on, pinch me :star_struck:

And we got a booking based on last nights performance.

Yes you are good enough. Get out there.
