Yeah I have always found flats to be sticky/grippy too.
Oh my EMGs were ordered June 6th….
“Next week for sure”
“End of the month”
“Looks like 7-10 days”
I bought the RS66Fs, cause I heard them in a comparison video and liked them. The only difference being the A string 85 vs 80.
Pam, the Labella RX rounds are about the ‘smoothest’ rounds I have felt. I am trying out the nickel ones (RD4) on the Bello bass now. So far I like them. The SS counterparts are going to go on the Music Man whenever I get around to it.
I feel bad for you. I have 2. I thought that you got yours already.
You got me beat. I ordered my SDs on July 8th with a “3-5 business day” delivery.
It’s funny, my d’addario chromes are so smooth and slippery i had trouble plucking them at first because my fingers would sometimes just slip over them ![]()
There’s GHS Fastfret or Music Nomad String fuel which keep strings clean and slippery.
I’ve never had any more of a callus than a tiny little bit of rough skin on the index finger of my fretting hand. Nothing close to when i first started playing guitar and my calluses were so thick they would peel off ![]()
I’m getting one right now learning to play guitar and it’s a nylon strings. My friend said nylon! Pfts that like cooked spaghetti, oh yeah? Tell that to my fingertips, lol. I use fingerease. But cleanup is not fun.
Fast fret is where it’s at.
@John_E I left rounds on my Aerodyne for that very reason since I have flats on my MIA J, my Mustang P/J, and my P. More good reasoning for purchasing the Aerodyne; and I thought it was just GAS. LOL
Seems I’ve got most tones I need … except for some of those “active” tones, which is why I’m still eyeing an EBMM or similar.
There’s another $0.02 to add to our kitty. Maybe we’ll have enough for a Rick before the turn of the century.
^^this.
Bass is nothing compared to guitar here. Not just not even in the same ballpark; we’re talking not even on the same planet. The first six weeks of guitar - now that’s true pain.
Yep. After decades of guitar, I had to file my calluses down regularly. But even then I had to be cautious about playing after washing the dishes because they would shred. Bass? Not a problem. I could wash both dogs, take a shower, rub lotion on a rhino, and be good to go on bass.
If I were to make an analogy, I would say the difference is kind of like holding a fork vs carrying your kitchen knives around by holding the blade edges.
To me it was the difference between fencing wire and cheese wire. I picked a guitar up a few days ago and the memories came flooding back. Needless to say I put the guitar down pretty quickly lol
Wait what? Did I read that right? 6 f-ing weeks on guitars? Noooooooo! It’s already affecting my left hand grip. All of the sudden I’m losing my speed. Lol
6 weeks minimum, and that’s with a lot of practicing
Not even a question. With sock of course. Sh!t, I put socks on wearing sandals.
No. No and no
This is fine….unless you ever want a lady friend ever again. Or any friends. Or to be taken seriously.
