GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

Yep, saw that. We were typing at the same time. :joy:

What about the Fretless? That’s not preorder.

Yeah, it’s confusing at best… misleading at worst.

I just sent him a message about the MR though… that seems to be the full prize. But, again, that can’t really be true… We’ll see!

Ah, he was quick to reply - also ā€œjustā€ the deposit on the MR. Sorry, @Megatronpt, false alarm - this one’s staying in Italy for now!!

Yeah, unless this guy is the Mayones Fairy, leaving gorgeous instruments under the pillows of good little bassists, there’s no way in hell he could sell those babies that cheap.

Move along nothing to see here,

That woke me right up, I’m scrambling and started to look for more space in my shed, :joy:

Yeah, sorry about the commotion, guys!

I wrote to Michele about the MR ad (the fretless) and he’s been quiet now for a while… wonder whether they are scrambling to fix a mistake before someone actually orders that thing for half price :joy:

I’d imagine that he’d still get in trouble with Mayones even if he honor the mistake and sell it at that price.

Part of me thought that’s just the stunt he’s trying to pull. Think about it in the matter of minutes there are a few of us ready to pull the trigger. I put that in my cart already, :joy:

Just ordered two Ashdown 12" ABM Cabs (ABM-112H-EVO IV-PRO NEO) for delivery when we get back from Japan. One for home, one for the rehearsal room and stack them up together for gigs.

When does the gear rabbit hole end @John_E ? :joy:

Yeah… seemed like a crazy deal!

Hell yeah, @Al1885. I’m not even a 5-driver, but I was ready to take advantage of the poor, mistaken soul and pull the trigger on either of those beauties. I have no doubt I’d quickly learn to love a five with those stellar looks and quality.

Made me run to caress my custom. :joy:

Yep! That’s my strategy as well. And, if your head has DI out (which I am sure it has), then you could also show up just with your amp and DI to FOH, and one cab as your own monitor. That would be typically for larger venues though.

I’m in for a swap - always wanted a BB

Well I have a Rootmaster version (RM-112T) and it is very decent. I only have issues with the tweeter switch, but not enough to replace (find another board/switch), but as far as tweeter is off it’s awesome, see picture above.

Y’all really are good at getting people to spend money. I haven’t splurged yet, but I am getting so much stuff in my Sweetwater wish list based off of ā€œhere’s things I recommendā€ it isn’t even funny. And it isn’t instruments, it’s other peripherals.

But my biggest conflict right now is that I need a new tuner. I’ve got a D’Addario clip on and it…isn’t good (I know you’re all shocked at that). I’m thinking a tuner pedal, and searches on the forum lead me to the Peterson Strobostomp HD. But that sucker’s $150. I know, paying for quality and all that, and everything I’m seeing on the interwebs says this thing is one of the best, if not the very best. I can afford it, but I’m probably just not used to what things in the bass world cost.

But then I’m also thinking about the Boss B1Four that so many of y’all are fans of, and it has a tuner on it as well. I don’t feel like I am ready/skilled enough for all kinds of effects and stuff, so I’m waiting on buying the Zoom, but then I wonder if I bought the Strobostomp if I would have buyer’s remorse down the line when/if I get the Zoom (or some other similar thing) that includes a tuner, and does that mean I should just skip the tuner pedal and just go straight to the Zoom now and ignore the other features.

I have a tendency to overthink things as it is, and I am probably waaaayyyy overthinking this.

I really liked the tuner on the Zoom I had, but the Strobostomp is much, much better.

This one should be here Monday! I heard one played and I liked it. Schecter Silletto 8 string.

If you think you will get some kind of multibox soonish, then since you have the clip on already (even if not great) try and use that until you get the multibox, then see how you like the inbuilt tuner…
you can also look out for a deal on a strobo while you wait

I see so many confirmed musicians using clip-on tuners that I really don’t see the need to pay for a Peterson :person_shrugging:t3:
But there’s a thread somewhere about tuners. No need to repeat the same arguments here

There is absolutely no need! Any tuner is fine.

What I do like about it though:

  • its display is excellent and very easy to read
  • it is very fast to use

So, going down the bass vi rabbit hole. There’s an Ibanez multiscale bass vi variant. Wondering if anyone has any experience with it, or an opinion about how those Ibanez Bartolini’s are going to sound playing Cure songs?
