Big +1 for the Peterson Strobostomp. It is excellent, built like a tank, and you’ll never be concerned with tuning accuracy again.
I’ve played guitar for decades, using all types of clip-on tuners. The Strobostomp stomps them all.

There’s some other excellent tuner options in pedals as well - the Boss Tu-3 is a great choice, as are some of the Korgs.
However, I just really like how fast and visual the strobe tuners are and the display on the Strobostomp is just excellent.
The mute button on a tuner is super convenient for VVT controls too. Just stomp the button instead of turning both volume knobs down then trying to get them back where you like them.
+1 for the Strobostomp!
I recently set the intonation on a new bass that was way off when it arrived, using the Strobostomp. This is where the extra accuracy really shines.
It is a bit spendy. Buy once, cry once - you’ll never need another.
Timely discussion, which strobostomp do you guys have? Mini, regular, or LE? I don’t know anything about pedals. Is it just a tuner?
I have the HD. And yes it is just a tuner, an expensive but good one.
I have a mini
I have an HD. It’s the one and only pedal I own and need.
I started with the Peterson clip-on, but didn’t gel with it. So…I bought the pedal. No matter what the pedal chain is at the moment, the Strobostomp is first and the Becos FX Stella CompIQ v2 with the DITOS balanced output option is second.
I have them all including HD and the clip on. I like the mini the most. The usb-c is very convenient.
Q. Is the price always the price?
A. Depends
A reminder to all fellow GASheads to politely (It’s a Canadian thing after all) ask about a deal when buying larger priced new items.
I was interested in a couple of 12" Cabinets. The Ashdown cabs were about $1700 for the pair.
I contacted the sales team online and asked did they have any room to move on that price?
They got back to me and no. The price is the price, but they price match.
I googled the Headquarters of the company and found their head of sales for Canada. Then politely asked the same question.
He emailed me back and arranged for $200 off.
There are deals to be had, if you’re polite and prepared to wait it out.
What’s everyone’s opinions on an affordable compressor pedal? My existing Joyo I thought I could just crank down the sustain but pretty much everything out of it is distortion now. I need to shovel driveways and save up for one that works :arrow_up_down:
So this is affordable in comparison to the Cali 76’s and higher end boutique comps but it’s not like cheap. It’s a Boss so it’s solid and good. Unless you decide you want something that colors your tone a different way, this’ll keep working possibly as long you play bass.
Edit: Here’s one on Reverb for $30 less in mint condition with free shipping.

It’s difficult to say. I’m definitely partial to the CaveMan audio compressor but I’m already down to one kidney so I’ll wait,
Boss and Berhinger is pretty good they are almost one of the same and it’s quite affordable. I’m currently sporting the Wampler Corey Wong and it’s really good.
Oh I also have the Aguilar compressor thanks to @eric.kiser who recommended it was on sale for a C note. Hard to pass up.
$25 for a copy of the Boss compressor ($160).

Any good build your own compressors?
I’m like 50/50 on berringer
50% like?
50% love?
I hear you.
They are generally great deals. Just buy two in case of failures and you’re still ahead by 75% in price.
I’d go with @Barney idea and grab one of the Behringers’s tbh. I doubt you’re going to be able to buy a kit to build one that’s better than that for under $25.
