I’ve been wanting to add a Danelectro Longhorn to my collection for many years, but never got on with the existing finishes. But I kept watching the Surfragettes videos and enjoying the tone of Sarah Butler’s Longhorn. Well, I just found a new finish that’s black with red binding. It’s a beauty! It just arrived from Thomann a couple of hours ago and I’m letting it come up to ambient before I play it.
Big congrats, man. It looks HOT!
I loved my Longhorn, even with its horrific burnt orange/cream burst finish. Hell, I never looked at it while I was having a blast playing it, so all was good.
Quite good looking and the f hole addition is cool.
So I ended up sending all the Korg Volca gang back. The FM2 is really good, but I didn’t get on with the others. I’ll keep the Arturia Keystep37 though as it is a really nicely put together midi keyboard.
Anyway, I bought a refurbished Novation Mininova instead! I love it, as anyone who sees my YouTube channel can attest too!
It has full size jack plugs, so can connect directly to the Rumble 40.
My bass guitar is getting attention in the B2B course, so it’s not hanging around looking sad.
Using Mr Pizzas idea of a pick for scale

Hopefully I can stop gassing for now!
Oh cool!
If you are interested in newer and excellent hardware synths, I’d recommend checking out these:
Korg Modwave
ASM Hydrasynth
Arturia MiniFreak/Microfreak
Behringer DeepMind
Korg Opsix
Probably in about that order.
Awesome. I just got a 604 in black. Enjoy it and congrats!
Thanks Howard
I will look out of curiosity though…
I would be in trouble if there was an Australian Harley Benton, the only thing stopping me making stupid spending decisions is the postage
I just saw your post about “dont ask me about synthesizers, as thats worse” and i have to ask, how many and which ones?
I have so many software synths at this point. It will take a while to make a list, but I should. These are my preferred synths.
Hardware, recently I owned an Arturia MicroBrute, a Behringer Pro-1, and a Behringer Kobol Expander. Back in the day I owned an Ensoniq ESQ-1 and my bandmate had a VFX.
I have sold all the hardware ones and now exclusively use software, primarily Kilohearts Phase Plant, u-he Diva and RePro, and a few others, with many more as occasional use.
Esq1! Do you still have it?
I am also guilty of this and the current list is -
Living room, just near my bass i have a little yamaha reface cp. Lovely little thing.
But in the room downstairs, it gets a little bit more mental -
Deepmind 12
Bass station 2
Osmose e (latest acquisition and absolutely a dream)
Moog sound studio (dfam, subh and m32)
Moog matriarch
Prophet 10
Arturia keylab midi controller with 60 million vsts
Beatbuddy drum mahine
Roland tr8s drum machine
Ive just been on them and knocked out a pretty good track!
Just need to plug the bass in now and record some of that on top
Edit - i just re read you sold your hardware. Oh, thats a shame
Yeah I sold the ESQ-1 in particular about 20 years ago. I regret this, unlike most sales.
I still know the guy I sold it to, I should ask what he did with it
Honestly though SQ-80V sounds exactly the same
Id definitely ask if it was me!
I know a lot of people downsize to vsts, but i could never let my hardware go now - its core to what i do
So, in addition to the B2Four that arrived the other day, let’s just say that there is a shipment coming to me from Sweetwater in the next couple of days.
Not going to say too much before it arrives (gotta build the suspense) but it has four strings and is made of Alder with a roasted maple neck and fingerboard…
It’s a little bag of candy, isn’t it? I’ll bet money it’s a bag of candy.
Dangit, you weren’t supposed to guess so easily.
Also, does anyone alive even actually like Bit-O-Honey?
Me! I like weird candy
They are what I always wanted
I like the workflow so much better, I love being fully ITB. And now they sound as good or better too. Korg’s last three flagship hardware synths have been a Raspberry Pi internally, running the same sound engine as the DAW plugin versions. Check out Modwave Native, it’s awesome!
