Seems perfectly rational to me. And the smaller footprint is always appreciable.
says it all
That’s a cool band picture.
Thanks @eric.kiser we’re having fun, and that’s the whole reason I got into this thing in the first place.
I’ve previously mentioned that I like buying pre-loved kit. I also like bargain! I think this is both.
Over the last few months I’ve have bought a number of individual pedals, all second hand and perfectly adequate.
BUT…I was at a jam session a week or so ago and one of the guitarists turned up with a Neural DSP Quad Cortex Floor Amp Modeller. Freak me!! The sounds that thing was making blew me away … as did the price, £1,500 (UK).
I started looking at other options, Line 6 HX Stomp, Zoom B6… you get the idea. All cheaper than the Quad Cortex, but all more than the CEO/CFO/COO/wife would countenance!
Then I saw this on Facebook Market, a Hotone Ampero One, as new and at about 60% of the prevailing new price. I emailed my pro-guitarist buddy, what do you think? Reviews are good, came back the response. So last night I bought it.
LOTS of guitar patches that sound surprisingly good with a bass, and while there are only a few factory preset, bass specific tones, those that are there are really good. Plus there are more user defined slots than I will ever need.
I’ve only had it for 24 hours, but so far, I’m
loving it! And the separate pedals? They are all going to be listed! Anyone need a compressor, phaser, chorus, delay……… ?
The Quad Cortex is awesome, even if it’s still not quite living up to the immense original hype of being plugin-compatible.
I’d hope it is awesome for £1,500!
That’s actually not so much for the league it’s in. Check out the full Helix models (Helix Floor, the rackmount, etc) and the Kempers - that’s the tier it’s in, not the Zoom or Boss (or Line 6) consumer models like the B6 or HX Stomp. Right now the Quad Cortex is only something like $300 more than a Kemper head (and the Kemper is much older).
Isn’t plugin compatible supposed to be imminent?
It has been for two years now, so yes
Ooh and just in time for my holiday
It’s got the approval of @Al1885 so I know it’ll be alright. Plus it’ll work with my cheapie $199 Squier Tele.
waiting for mine, backordered at sweetwater
Gosh dang you two!
I had $117.93 in sweetwater gift cards that I wasn’t sure what I would do with.
They have been spent.
obviously this is completely our fault
I don’t think I’ll use this much for bass, but we’ll see. For $54 shipped I’m happy to see if I can make cool violin sounds with this!
A classic!
So I ordered this bass in September '23. It was forecast for October.
Then December
February
March
July
Yesterday I checked again, and it is now pushed out to November. Okay, so CME now has the Bass VI in Antigua up on there site, forecast for October. So I contacted them to check, and they had a small shipment come in and mine has been consigned and is going through setup.
So I have a new bass coming in a week. Unexpected. And a box of parts for it, which includes pickups, bridge, hardtail, wiring harness with a serial/parallel switch, which may not get much use but more than a high cut. And strings. In a sense good that it took a while because I ordered the Staytrem Bass Vi bridge back then and I only got it last month.
My Paranormal pickups are in the mail as of yesterday
So it’s a shiny day all around
Noob question that I’ve been wondering about, what’s the difference between a bass VI and a baritone guitar?
Did a quick spec comparison against a couple of baritones.
Bass VI has a 30" scale length vs. 27"-ish for the baritones. Bass VI has thicker strings. (.024 - .084) than the two baritones I compared (.014-.068 / .012 - .068)
Oh and the baritones are commonly tuned to B standard (Between a guitar and the Bass VI), while the Bass VI is E to E.
My Bass Vi will have .026 - 095 strings.
Baritones are, and I may get this wrong (theory not my strength), tuned a diminished 5th lower (B standard) than a normal guitar as @fennario said, and is a full octave lower, and as it’s tuned to E you can play a normal bass line on it.
