GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

Dude, I’d love to have your bass budget. :money_mouth_face:

Yeah I’ve never even seen one, just kind of a rare funky-shaped BB. Cool instruments.

It’s literally a PJ 4 string version of BBNE2 neck through and all.

To be fair I have not acquired any bass lately, well at least not my regular rate,

New (old?) fuzz just dropped with a companion EHX history book.

I GAS’d and ordered one of the pedals.

The $1000 used one? Price dropped to $899 the other day. And now it is no longer available for purchase because I just bought the thing. Better pictures will be in the Show Us thread once it arrives.

I need to make a tough GAS decision. I just bought a 5 string Sadowsky Metro Express Modern which I really like. I had nearly convinced myself that I was done experimenting with 5 string basses until this one came in.

Despite really liking it I still don’t know that I really need a 5 string. There really isn’t anything I play that goes below D but I do see how having the B string can be useful for D and everything above it. My dilemma is that I’m GASing hard for a Darkglass Anagram. Again, something I don’t necessarily NEED but would be a substantial upgrade over my GX-10.

I’m just struggling to decide if I keep the Sadowsky or return it for the Anagram. I know it’s up to me to make the choice but I’ve got decision paralysis and any insight would be appreciated.

two things self-described that you don’t need equal 1 thing you do, keep the Sadowski and get the anagram. it’ll make the Bass sound better lol.

I just upgraded my GX-10 to a Helix LT. I’d do the anagram tbh. I still dig my Boss and it does a lot really well imo, but its pretty limited (especially with only having 1 footswitch). That upgrade also effects all of your basses vs getting another bass that you might not even play much being a 5 string (when you aren’t a big 5 string player).

Edit: I’ve got a cheap Yamaha 5 string. Glad I have it, but for as much as I play stuff that benefits fro mhaving that B, I’m glad I went cheap (the BB435 is still a nice bass though).

I’ve been listening to all the new videos. That’s a pretty great sounding Big Muff. I would describe it as being more full range with better distinction in notes. Sounds great on bass too.

JHS put out the one you ordered. EHX is also putting out their version in a smaller enclosure for $122.

I sold my 5-string after about four months. Just didn’t dig the string spacing at all.

Same

Loved the Spector, just couldn’t get used to the 5 string at all :slightly_frowning_face:

Love the Squier CV 70s I picked up earlier though

In celebration of Krampus day, I ordered this Dingwall! Unfortunatly I had to go out of town last week for work, so it sat at FedEx until yesterday! I’m gone tomorrow for a week, so I won’t be able to touch it again until next weekend.

Nice! The KK3 signature. When you get to play it let me know what you think of the pickup toggle and the EMG preamp. I was looking at that bass pretty hard for a bit there. I wanted the colorshift one.

A little bit of playing, I like it!!! Love actually! The switch for the middle pickup is like the loud button. From what I’ve seen, the colors shift is only available in Eorope. Dingwall’s site state the green one is limited to 100 units, so if you are interested, get one now. If you are in Europe, I’d definatly go colorshift!

I’d prefer the green one, but €3’000 for a 5 string… :grimacing:

2 871,07 € for the colorshift at Bass Freaks in Belgium. A bargain! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

O the new upright came with a bridge pickup and preamp …. For an acoustic guitar!

That simply won’t do. Therefore, I have purchased the below preamp and pick up system. It’s especially designed for rockabilly, with a bridge pick up and a fingerboard pick up to get all the clickity clackity slap goodness. I don’t know how much clickity clackity slap I’ll be doing, but since the base is covered in flames on the front, I figured I should learn some. Turn off the fingerboard pick up, and it’s definitely a better preamp than the nonsense that was on there.
