I figured alternating posts would be ok, but back on topic;

Had to send this one back: B STock listed as new

It’s hard to tell what all is going on there. Can you list what you see up close?

Looks like the back end of the pick guard is all scratched up.

Yeah the plastic peeling is normal and it doesn’t matter if it is marred (that’s what it is for), but the damage to the pickguard underneath is unacceptable.

I received this short scale yesterday! Kind of odd, we had some discussions a out these a while back. I like it a lot, great finish and it’s light! My last short scale was a G&L Tribute. That one was not light!

That’s a sweet bass. I like the coloring, the inlays, and the headstock. It looks pretty cool.

I love it a lot

That is so ridiculously awesome looking. I had to go look it up. There are a bunch of guitars in that line that look just as cool, I just wish they made a P bass version of the bass.

Winder marks on keys, Pick guard gouges, and if you look slightly up and to the left of the obvious light fixture reflection, there is a nick in the finish, respectively.

That is the first non-boring bass I’ve seen in a long time! Absolutely wonderful, even though it’s a jazz bass.

What is it? How does it sound? Are you going to route it and put two or three Humbuckers in it?

Wow, that’s as punk as f~$k! I love it!!

Why stop at three? Wouldn’t Ronin be even better with four humbuckers?

Hahaha! Ronin is as good as it gets now, unfortunately. Nothing to be done anymore on that one, I’m totally happy with it!

Can’t decide, which Emoji fits:  or :frowning:

I’m currently eyeing this bass…

I try will try wait a bit more, but since I started the B2B, I fell really in love with the bass, something click this time that did not 15 years ago.

And decided that one is within my budget, and wanted to treat myself…

And now my wife wants to learn to play piano…. Guess our goals for 2026 is learning music!

The 174 is a fine bass. It’s what I started on. All the same though, if you can save up a little longer or (preferably) look around for a used trbx 304, I think you would appreciate it more. Sticking with Yamaha, the BB234 is also a fantastic option.

That’s the one, I was looking at first, but got intimated by all those knobs and switch..

Also, I need another amp. I have a small stagg 20W. And my friend guitarist told me to get a better one. That’s one of the reasons I decided to go on the 174 (just love that sunburst look!), and get also a better amp (need to look into that now)

Also, since I often go to my second home. I would leave that Stagg amp and my other bass there, not to travel every time with the bass/amp.

For a P/J I would suggest checking out the BB234 as well. All three of those (TRBX 174, 304, and BB234) are about as good as it gets in this price tier, but the BB line is generally Yamaha’s P and P/J style basses (with a few exceptions). The TRBX line is usually their more modern double-humbucker line - except for the 174 (passive) and 204 (active EQ), which are kind of the odd ducks out - TRBX body shape but P/J pickups.

Thanks for the feedback, you made me re-think.

Initially I was looking at the 304, but I saw somewhere that the drawback of the 304 was fixed on the 504.

My reasoning was to get the 174 which is a look I really like. And that one would make me want to pick it up and play. Learn on that one, and later on, get the 504. I check the BB234, and I must say I prefer the look of the 174 or 304 (green mist). The 304 would also be one that I want to pickup an play

Also, the store near me, when you buy a new guitar they make the setup at no additional charge
