AH!
There’s the reference, it went WAY over my head, LOL.
Thanks, Mike!

Very nice! Hope you get it sorted
Is it a tribute JB1? It’s an excellent bass love the color and the white neck binding. I have one. It is on a heavy side just so you know. It’s almost if not 5kg.
There ought to be a Mother Saint of GAS. (With all due respect)
Here I go again…
This is a 2014 special edition of a Squier CV '60 for a Canadian Store and it is locally up for sale. I’m totally into the colors including the rosewood fretboard and specs.
You may remember I have a 2017 Fender Mustang PJ and a Squier 2008 Precision Bass Special with a 39mm nut. My favorite for playability may be the Mustang but my favorite for tone is the P-Bass, independently of flats or rounds in either case. I don’t give the brand sticker that much importance but how it feels and sounds. I seriously feel like selling the Mustang to get this Squier. As the song says: Where is my mind?
not a big fan of tortoise, but the body color is really cool !
I dislike the red tortoise but the brown tortoise is actually my favorite.
It is, and it ticks all of my boxes: Lake Placid Blue, rosewood (or pau ferro?) fretboard, white binding, mother of pearl block inlays… Thanks for the heads up about the weight! I don’t think it’d be a deal breaker, but it’s good to know.
It’s a rock solid bass at the right price you would not be disappointed.
I was being a bit obtuse, and I’ve been known to launch failed jokes many times…
No pictures yet as I’m really beat. But ,y red Harley Benton 51 P got here today.
A couple years ago, I wanted a strasight P and didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I gave HB a shot. The bass I got was horrible. Not playable out of the box. Neck like the thick end of a baseball bat. A whole list of other items. Today I regret not contacting Thomann. But whatever. Not a big investment.
So last week I ordered a $99 usd 51p in red - and lefty. I have a nerve injury going on a year now and rotating my wrist and forearm to fret is quite painful.
Dying to play bass, I thought I would give lefty a try, and figured HB was a cheap way to find out. There’s no lefty basses local.
I haven’t played it yet, but the bass itself is so well built. Thin neck, nice fretwork, it’s a really nice bass. This bridge works. I take back all my bad thoughts on HB. Apparently mine was a dud.
As I have mentioned earlier I feel ready (I mean more than ever so ~1% there ) for trying a 5-string bass, probably 18mm string spacing should support my wish (when I restarted bass after a 27 year hiatus I went with an SR305 and that was too narrow and I was also basically a beginner). So when I saw the Marcus Miller Z7-5 being released this year I knew I have the target of GAS immediately. It’s OK in price, hopefully bringing some Stingray-feeling with awesome quality at decent price.
Then I checked the Sterling by Music Man StingRay 5 SHH and thought well, this is by MM and even cheaper, WTF?
Side note: if going for a 5 string at this price level then why not check the Spector Legend Standard 5? Edit: just checked and string spacing is only 16.8mm, I need (wnat! ) 18mm at least.
And the this comes up - a barely used Cort C5 Plus ZBMH with MarkBass Preamp supporting Bartolini pickups for ~350EUR? Such a beauty
Geeeeeeeeeez I am in “trouble”
Reminder: I have a Squier 40th Anniversary J and also a similar P - and only 1 year into playing bass (again), so absolutely no need to have another. But then again amp-wise I’m OK (Ampeg RB210 home / in case of a gig and a Yamaha amp with 210+115 old Behringers at band practice space), pedals… Selling them to get a HX Stomp (more on that later), but honestl haven’t purchased any bass for over 6 months now And maybe a 5er should be a good move?
Well I forgot to ask your view (and experience) on the Cort C5 - recommended, is that OK for filling the 5-string void, or should I wait until summer and buy the 2x more expensive Z7-5?
Yamaha BB435 and TRBX305 both look like they have 18 mm string spacing.
In before Howard lol
Well, you hit a sensitive spot there - I truly believe in Japanese craftsmanship and especially Yamaha products - was eyeing with the 735 though, will check 435 now (pricewise fits, spacing is the desired) - you’re absolutely right!
TRBX doesn’t really excite now to be honest
Let’s talk Sadowsky, which is really Warwick these days.
I have mentioned that I really gassed last week, in desperation of not playing and my perhaps ill advised left handed effort. I don’t want to sink a lot of money into this until I see if it will work, but I did gas and got two basses, the HB and a Sadowsky low end Jazz.
I got to tell you, Sadowsky is going to give Sire a run for their money. When the Metro Express line was first introduced there were a bunch of teething problems, and bad reviews, and I am sure they were justified. But they worked out the issue, added roasted necks and zero fret technology, and relaunched a few months ago.
So I picked up a discontinued V1 Jazz, but late model that they are dumping for a song, with all the teething issues fixed. And you get a lot of attention to detail.
The Metro Express line is manufactured in China, but goes through the Warwick shop in Germany for final inspection and setup. Sadowsky is aligned with Warwick these days. The setup was fine, all the strings were detuned one half step, and it played out of the box except for a dead battery.
It has lightweight tuners.
It has the Not Just a Nut. Which is a nut which can be adjusted up or down as part of the setup. Along with a cute little hex wrench
It has a hex wheel to adjust the truss, along with a tool to act as the lever
The pickups are in house Sadowsky which sound nice, and stainless steel strings which sure do bark. Quickly replaced with TI rounds.
They have a string tree which covers all 4 strings, no more funky A string woes.
The preamp is a typical Sadowsky pre-amp without the vintage won control. Treble, bass and passive active switch. I will upgrade to the version with the tone circuit if it works out, it comes on a control plate. It has some of the best feeling knobs ever.
I will mention fretwork because I see it get negative reviews. My frets are fine, no complaints, as good or better than my Ibanez.
The bridge is a “quick load” bridge, just a basic bridge, somewhere between a Fender angle iron and a hi mass. More beef to it then the former and not as much as the latter.
It comes with a gig bag. An actual padded gig back, with inches of foam protecting the bass on all sides, not the normal rain slicker you get on the low end models.
No comments on how it plays, the nick feels nice and satiny, but I am a noob all over as far as feels. The sound is nice.
Other than upgrading the plate to get the Sadowsky VTC preamp, there is nothing I would do to this bass. Well, the battery is behind 6 screws for the rear cavity plate but the newer version fixes that.

Did they change that with the new versions? This one appears to be manufactured in China?
I meant to say China. I don’t know why I mistyped it
If it was MIJ there would be no need to inspect it in Germany

Regardless, that’s a lovely bass, congrats!

Yeah, I may or may not have gotten really excited at the prospect of the “value” line being MIJ!
Was looking at Sweetwater, and what I assume is the updated version looks to be about 2x the cost of what I’m assuming is the v1 version at Thomann.
There’s a reverb shop in Franklin, TN that is selling them which is coincidently where Sadowsky’s US HQ is.
