Seriously, I had no idea you own that many basses, @MikeC. Only a matter of time before you’ll need a shed to store them!

My stable is evolutionary: Each instrument has come from a time in my bass history. Two Mayones, an EBMM Cutlass, three Sires (one a shorty), and a Sterling shorty.

I’ve got everything I’ve ever needed, and more. I’m done buying.

And they all live just fine in my music room.

You might want to put that in a frame and mount it where you can see it every day :joy:

I have two new basses, one a Joe Dart (which I will probably sell), the other is in transit

RAYSS4, my entry into the world of Stingray

and for @Whying_Dutchman I may change out the pickup depending on how it sounds. Short scale for the win

There’s one on reverb for $500 and free shipping that’s been up 4 days, so it looks like they’re coming down in price.

yes I’m responding 3 weeks later  welcome to the bongoloids :fist:

there’s just something about green basses, so nice. fun fact: there was a guy on the music man forums called dargie who once commented that green basses don’t sell. so music man made a special limited color of green and named it “dargies delight”. they have released it 3 times in slightly different shades and they are all highly coveted collectors items.

Sample size of me… but I tend to love like a mint green with sparkle finish on basses.

give us your thoughts when you get it, I’m really curious what you will think.

I will definitely post in Short Love when it gets here, will probably change the strings to SIT as I am not a fan of EB slinkys.

It looks interesting, with a 3 way switch (parallel, single coil, and series), Neodymium pup, and a push pull volume boost which I don’t think I need. Question is how the pup is, I know a lot of people swap the low end Sterling pups for an Aguilar

As some of you know… my bass life started with a contrabass… many eons ago.
Lately between some Jazz and newer things I’ve been considering getting the second best thing after an acoustic contrabass… a fretless one.

I’m not in for slapping… or popping… do love chords, hammers and the voicings on the fretless. Fortunately nowadays many come with the frets drawn on the fingerboard which makes it easier… what is your take on fretless basses ?

It’s not on the table to be done soon… just curious… and want to see if I try one before I actually commit.

Yes, try a fretless and buy a fretless.
Here is a link to the Fretless Fan Club thread for some added inspiration:

I have a fretless electric with lines and a line free acoustic.
Love both, great fun to play.
essential for some songs (eg Hey You)

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet Bass.
I hope you post an updated report about the bass after you spend some quality time together…
My next bass will be a ray 4 maybe even the same color with a maple fret board for sure. I’m waiting for the new stock soon to be in shops for Xmass season to hand pick my new Sweeeeety…

Selling most probably, seeing as long scale seems to be in the past for me. So those will all be going.

Hah! At the Emeryville GC? If so, I played that some bass and was equally impressed with it after messing around on a poorly set up Fender Player II for a while.
