GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Part 2)

I’m not even buying a frame.

Not to worry: I have an embarrassment of bass riches. In sad fact, I have more basses than I will ever have enough time to play them.

I’ve curated my stable to serve my every feel, sound and need. If anything, I’ll sell the shorties as I rarely play them.

Yes… and your point being!?

A noble undertaking for sure, but all fade and yield to the fire of GAS :smiling_imp:

Well said. :sunglasses::+1:

Had this baby briefly at my home… but, it’s on its way back. I just couldn’t ā€œfeel itā€. It’s a beautiful and well-made instrument, but it’s awkward to play. Also, it’s not really a bass, I guess, but some sort of string instrument, and I am not that familiar with string instruments (having only ever played bass) to easily accommodate for such a change in scale and size. Oh well, I will continue traveling without a bass (and find other stuff to keep me busy music-wise while on the road).

What scale is that bass again?

I think just a smidgen over 17 ā€˜ā€™ :joy:

Hmm…

So much for the Cali guarantee that you could play like Feraud and Malaman if you had one.

But by all indications, it is a bass. A tiny, tiny bass. :joy:

Huh. Ellen finally has a bass that doesn’t make her look like she’s playing a California redwood with strings!

Yeah, must have gotten a faulty one

That’s why I wanted any one Malaman has played. They seem to work just fine!

Lucky you! When do we get to hear you on them?? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I mean they work fine in his hands, as evidenced in the video. So the Cali guarantee must be legit! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Got my head spinning now

Man, seriously, sorry the Cali didn’t work out. But I can see how the tight fret spacing could be a hindrance. Even Ellen’s tiny fingers seemed thrown by the Cali’s ergonomics.

Personally, I now feel cramped by short scales, so I get it.

That’s certainly one aspect. But the whole form factor just didn’t work - I didn’t know how to position my hand or my thumb without it feeling awkward (or even a bit painful)… Sure, I could/should have tried to adjust, but I could sense that I just wouldn’t pick it up or feel like I couldn’t keep my hands off it; just wasn’t there :man_shrugging:

Completely understandable. :+1:

If only there were some other, larger scale beauty (with one more string) out there, in the ether, gestating, just waiting to wing its way to your loving arms…

If only…

Enough with the gestating already… just hurry up

Just picked up this fine lady…

Picked up a Boss GX-10 and this thing is awesome. I was torn between this and the HX Stomp and for what this offers at a cheaper price I think I made a good call. I had previously considered getting an ME-90B or a Zoom B6 but the GX-10 will work well for me for both bass and guitar
