Had this baby briefly at my home⦠but, itās on its way back. I just couldnāt āfeel itā. Itās a beautiful and well-made instrument, but itās awkward to play. Also, itās not really a bass, I guess, but some sort of string instrument, and I am not that familiar with string instruments (having only ever played bass) to easily accommodate for such a change in scale and size. Oh well, I will continue traveling without a bass (and find other stuff to keep me busy music-wise while on the road).
Man, seriously, sorry the Cali didnāt work out. But I can see how the tight fret spacing could be a hindrance. Even Ellenās tiny fingers seemed thrown by the Caliās ergonomics.
Personally, I now feel cramped by short scales, so I get it.
Thatās certainly one aspect. But the whole form factor just didnāt work - I didnāt know how to position my hand or my thumb without it feeling awkward (or even a bit painful)⦠Sure, I could/should have tried to adjust, but I could sense that I just wouldnāt pick it up or feel like I couldnāt keep my hands off it; just wasnāt there
If only there were some other, larger scale beauty (with one more string) out there, in the ether, gestating, just waiting to wing its way to your loving armsā¦
Picked up a Boss GX-10 and this thing is awesome. I was torn between this and the HX Stomp and for what this offers at a cheaper price I think I made a good call. I had previously considered getting an ME-90B or a Zoom B6 but the GX-10 will work well for me for both bass and guitar
