Welcome @Leila! I’m also on ā€˜third time’s a charm’ rotation  Glad to have you in the B2B tribe. How did the bass look after 10 years packed away?! Curious how badly it needed some set up.

Welcome in Steph! @withthecherrytrees It’s great to have you here! I’m late on welcoming you to the party but I saw the picture of your new bass in the other thread! It’s stunning! That sparkle is quite nice. Josh is an excellent teacher and I think you will find success with his lessons. Enjoy your stay!

Thanks! Surprisingly, after all these years of having the bass and not playing, then starting again and playing pretty regular for the last several weeks, now not having it, I’m missing it. Can’t wait to get it back to start the course.

Have decided not to buy a 5 string bass kit and have bought the course instead. From then on I’ll save for a decent bass with a view to getting myself one as a birthday present. Have my eye on a Jackson JS2
at the moment :metal:

Same here @bfrederi1! I On day 3 of B2B and am impressed by how much I already know from the free YT videos. It’s still well worth my time to review it tho since I’m still so green. I’m a self-proclaimed geek so I’m really looking forward to getting into music theory and challenging myself further in the course. Best of luck & have fun!

Hey @withthecherrytrees. Agreed. I’m making myself hit every lesson starting at Module 1, Lesson 1 even though I was getting into scales and fingering exercises in the YT ā€œorangeā€ vids.

I want to make sure that I was not missing any key basic concepts or developing bad habits. These early lessons are going quickly because they are review–I’m up to Module 3 Lesson 2 after four days–but that is going to slow down a lot once I start hitting new material.

I find it interesting how the tone of the B2B lessons differ from the YT freebies. It’s like Professor Fossgreen is in the room, now listen up and let’s learn. Yes we can joke around a little but it’s your dime so don’t waste time.

Amazing mad teaching skills for a young guy. And the production values are sooo much better than most. Compare to the well-intentioned but amateurish folks on YT who tape paper sheets on the wall and draw with markers, while talking to a handheld smartphone.

I feel like the B2B tuition would be a steal just as payback for what I got out of the orange videos compared to the cost of live lessons.

It’s been a while since I was on this thread so…

To all those just getting into the Bass Welcome, Welcome, Welcome.
I feel that the Bass is one of the easiest instruments to learn. Mastering it is a different story :slightly_smiling_face:

If you want to learn to play the Bass you can do it. All it takes is practice, practice and more practice.
The B2B course will have you up and running in no time at all.

Just keep your setup simple to begin with and have fun.

Oh, one last thing do not feel any questions you may have are stupid. There are a lot of knowledgeable people in this forum that are willing to help. We’ve all been there. The only stupid question is the one not asked :+1: :+1: :+1:

Good luck.

Absolutely agree!! Happy learning. Can’t wait to hear about your progress.

I’ve struggled with ā€œgolfer’s elbowā€ over the years due to boxing (hitting that damn speed bag too much) and working at a computer all day - I went really hard the first week and once I felt that flare up a bit, I decided to take today off (well… mostly off lol)

Thank you, @Celticstar! Much appreciated. I’ve gotta say, before finding this forum & B2B, I stumbled into another forum where people were really nasty to one another. I couldn’t believe it. Everyone here has been amazing; beginners like me greatly appreciate the kindness, patience, knowledge & support
!

Unfortunately that seems to be quite common. Sad but at least you finally found us.

This is probably one of the most friendly forums on the internet. At least, that I have found.
Gotta go. Off to a jam session soon.

Welcome and have fun. :+1:

Hi all…I am Jack and I live in north western Maine. 16 miles from the Canadien border. Closest music store is 100 miles away…so I buy online. My fretting hand index finger is very damaged and only partially bends from the middle joint. Not at all from the front joint. I know this will be a challenge and I’m hoping to get some strength back in that finger. Just started the course yesterday. So far, so good. Oh…I will be 70 this year. So still plenty young enough to learn.
