I sort of had an epiphany moment when i recognized that most of my liked songs had a cool and groovy bass-line in common and I knew Bass was my instrument.

@EricV welcome aboard!
And plenty of older gents in here dipping their toes in the water regarding learning an instrument. I picked it up last year just before turning 47.

Hi! I’m new here and hoping to properly learn the bass for real now at 25 (soon 26!)
I used to play a little bit as a teenager, and by that I mean using bass tabs and playing along to songs I liked. For years I wasn’t able to play anymore and my health made it hard to really get back into it, especially with OCD and some nightmare level perfectionism holding me back. I’m hoping that this course will help me get comfortable with the basics and help me learn to play stuff by ear eventually since most of the stuff I listen to now doesn’t have tabs or covers at all! Nice to meet y’all

Hey All. I’m Charlene and just started yesterday. I’m 60 years old (or young depending on how my body feels each day). I have been playing six and 12 strings since I was 13 when my Uncle gave me my first guitar. I am a Navy Vet with CPTSD. My doctor suggested that I learn a new instrument for therapy purposes since I need a distraction for my mind. I took up piano 4 years ago, but it’s not my thing. I started drumming 2 years ago, but my dogs don’t like how loud they are. So I took the plunge and bought a Fender PJ Bass Kit from Sweetwater 2 weeks ago. I found the b2b course through YouTube and really liked Josh’s teaching style. I have to say I am enjoying it, however, it’s a bit challenging wrapping my brain around muting strings while playing. But, it’s a great distraction for me and I am loving learning the bass. Nice to meet everybody!
