Welcome! I hope the bass will be exactly what you need.
Welcome @surgnu
Have fun!
Welcome aboard shipmate! There’s a few of us floating around here. I was a CTO1(SW) once upon a time. There are also a lot of former guitarists as well. One bit of advice going in, especially with as much experience as you’ve already got. You have to unlearn what you have learned some of what you know about 6/12 string. I picked up my LP for the first time in months a few weeks ago and I couldn’t handle those tiny strings anymore.
I really like Josh’s teaching style, in fact I’m going through the course again a second time to work on my picking technique and pick up on some of the stuff that went over my head the first time through.
Hi, welcome @jn.rdtk enjoy the course, don’t let perfectionism ruin your fun in playing!
Hi, welcome Charlene @surgnu enjoy the course, learning something new (especially musical ) is soooo good for your mind
Welcome @surgnu Charlene!
Welcome, @surgnu. Glad you’re here. Don’t worry about muting as a beginner. Just go through B2B and practice, and all will come in time. Enjoy the lessons!
Welcome @surgnu ! Really happy to see you here!
Hey all,
I was a lifelong drummer who was always kinda jealous of the bass player in whatever crappy punk band I was in at the time. Got a Squire P bass a few years back and dabbled with Fender Play but nothing really clicked. So I let the thing collect dust until I got sober and needed something new to occupy my time. That was when I found BassBuzz and my new addiction! I’m on my second run through B2B and finally checking out the forum.
Welcome, @Milt. Glad you’re here. Enjoy!
Welcome @Milt
Have fun!

Welcome @Milt !
Welcome along @milt!
@Milt Welcome aboard!
Hello from the (very hot and humid) Equator! I am the Raoul, and I picked up the bass in 1986. Mainly because in the rush for the instruments in the studio, I was the slowest and nobody else wanted it. For real, I thought the “guitar” I picked up was defective because it only had four strings. But anyway, I played in a succession of bands before writing, recording and performing my own originals in a band called The Bakerloo Line. I did this until 2012, when the band broke up. The guitarists’ girl left him, so he left; the drummer went back to France; and the lead singer… well, we don’t talk about what happened to the lead singer. Fast forward to 2024, and for some reason, my wife’s drum teacher liked the bassline I did for an original song of his, and now I’m a) producing his album and b) picking up my venerable MIJ Ibanez Soundgear for the first time in 12 years. Thank you so much Josh, for helping me find my way around this instrument again! I’m already on lesson 3!!!
I like your origin story
Welcome!
