Hello!! I am fairly new here. Currently a little more than 1/2 through the class. Enjoying every minute. I started playing around with bass in October. I work, have two kids, and am also studying Spanish.

I do have one question and I’ll probably post this in another topic, but I am wondering if there is a way to get a bass tab created for a specific song. I would love to practice Days of Oblivion by Metric. Have looked and am not finding anything on YouTube and It’s way out very mediocre skill level to pick it up on my own. Any suggestions??

Looking forward to hanging out with y’all

Welcome @adair ! This is a great bunch of folks around here.

That’s a really cool song that I’d never heard. I don’t have tabs, but did run it through RipX, and this video might at least get you started. I’ve boosted the bass and lowered the volume on the rest so you can focus on the bass but still hear it in context. Check out the red note highlights on the left side piano keyboard. (I can’t hide the other instrument notes unless I solo the bass, but I’ve changed them all to grey to make them easier to ignore.) And the right side is a bit of a different type of visualization. Anyway, hope it helps get you rolling. Cheers!

Did you try to export MIDI or MusicXML and create the tabs with GuitarPro?

Also I really would like what is better for tab creation: RipX or AnthemScore…

When I’ve tried it in the past, it’s left a bit to be desired. On this song, it looks OK from a brief look, but I haven’t gone through it. Fingerings may be insane, I dunno. @adair if you use this, don’t take it as gospel, rather as a tool to help you figure out how you want to play it.
