Good thinking B, watch some Ellen plays bass for inspiration.
She has said she practiced 2 hours a day and now see what she can do.
Start them young and just make it part of their lives for 1000 hours of practice and after that watch out world there’s no stopping them…

It doesn’t hurt to have a father who is a pro guitarist with a studio full of instruments, as Ellen does.
Obviously, she also has inherent affinity for and ability with the instrument, but having a fully enthusiastic, encouraging and enabling mentor is exponentially beneficial to her growth as a musician.

Inherent may not be in the dna but a product of exposure.
How many languages can you teach a child?
How many do you want to teach them is the answer…
The vast majority of parents didn’t get the manual on raising kids, but those that set direction early like around 0 to 3 years old prove again and again that those who set a child’s direction instead of waiting for them to tell them what they want to do have way more successful kids.

Howdy, I’m 72, played took guitar lessons when I was in my teens, played guitar until I was in my 30’s. I stopped playing for some reason years ago, but took up ukulele during Covid. I’ve always wanted to try playing bass and found Josh online YouTube videos. I can’t resist a goofy person (my wife says I am the goofiest…we’ll see). I bought a Sequim mini and off we go!

Hello Lowlifers
My name is Rob, I recently put down the guitar and picked up the bass instead so I have some experience playing music.
Where I feel I come up short is in reading and understanding music theory. I’m looking forward to learning these skills and maybe making improv in a jam scenario easier and the ability to learn songs better.
