Hi all, I am Chris from Luxembourg and 33 years old. I started learning guitar with a private teacher about 5 years ago and it brought me great joy. I still take weekly lessons but I always wanted to play bass but decided to go for guitar because it seemed more versatile and I had no musicians as friends. Bass seemed to be oriented towards playing with others but I was unsure if I should start with as a complete non-musician.
Over the last 5 years, I learned a lot about music and had a lot of cool jams! Somehow, bass players were always missing or in need. So I decided to get one because I want to contribute and honestly, I was always drawn to bass to begin with.
The B2B course seemed like a great way to hone my skills and get a decent basis on bass. I am going through courses and greatly how it gradually teaches me.
My goals are just to be a well rounded bassist and learn some techniques to accompany others, I don’t aim to be a virtuoso but just the guy who fills in the crucial role as a backbone for cool tunes.
Bass players are always the coolest cats in a band.
Welcome, @Knirps. Glad you’re here. Bass is a versatile instrument, whether in jams, bands or for soloing by yourself. Josh will show you the way. Enjoy the lessons!
Hello Josh and BassBuzz Forum Family! I’m brand new to this group and pretty excited to get working on BTB and meet some fellow low-end enthusiasts. Seems like there’s a lot to learn from this community! (Mostly, I need to learn anti-procrastination theory so hit me with any advice!) We love to talk basses so…my first bass ever was the Mako! As I recall it was made by Memphis and was a P-body with Jackson style headstock. That was 1988 (for me. I don’t know how old the bass was.) About six months later I joined a band and bought a nearly new Ibanez SR800. Regrettably, I sold that in 2018. Should not have done that. My forever bass is a 1982 BC Rich Eagle, recently restored by Neal Moser and his merry band of luthering genius elves. And I’ve (again) begun collecting Precisions…a 2006 Highway One and 2012 American Special. My BTB companion will be my mustard yellow Ibanez Talman. I am now fully in the grips of GAS…but hey, that’s part of the fun, right!!! …right? I’m here because I’ve recently been picking up my bass more regularly after nearly 15 years of not playing at all. I discovered the BazzBuzz YouTube channel and I think that Josh is the teacher I never had when I started out. So, here’s to second beginnings!
Welcome, @M3McAuliff. Glad you’re here. There are several Buzzers like you and me who have played bass previously, so you’ll feel right at home. Plus, Josh will break any bad habits and show you how to play the right way. Enjoy the lessons!
