Hi all - my name is Phil. I’m 57 and started playing about 8 years ago, but just starting to learn now! I’m curious to see what bad habits I have picked up as I go through the beginner to bad ass course. As soon as I got my first base, a friend roped me into a cover band. I learned how to play those songs. When that band fell apart rather quickly another friend invited me to jam and I found myself in the three-piece playing all originals. Can I learn how to play the songs. That band is still going, but I find myself realizing how little I know, and I am excited to be embarking on this course!

Hi @nessaddison

Yay another west aussie here. I am 7 1/2 hours north in Geraldton. I am slowly working my way through the course, too inconsistently atm. I am loving it though when I make the effort. Welcome.

Welcome @flipbaird

I guarantee that you will be able to play those originals within some practice time. Plus , originals are the best when it comes to messing up as nobody knows the difference. VW claimed in his book that there are really no wrong notes , just leading notes. And I am a master at leading notes!!

You Got This ,

Cheers

Hi everyone! I’m Sam, I’m 49 and live in the UK. I studied the violin when I was younger all the way to grade 8, mostly because my mum forced me to and also because I liked interacting with the boys in the brass section at county orchestra practice! Many years on I’ve been wanting to pick up an instrument that I can truly love and I’ve always been drawn to the bass guitar. The timing feels right now as I’m currently recovering from brain tumour removal. I’m finding these early days of learning this beautiful instrument super relaxing and helpful in redeveloping some of those neural pathways! God forbid I just rest

I’ve completed module one and I’m loving it so far. I was also really happy to find that the riff for the module one workout is pretty much the same as the baseline for If I Had A Heart by Fever Ray. Who knew I would be rocking out to that just an hour after picking up the bass for the first time?!

I’m really glad to be here with you all and can’t wait to be a bass badass… I guess the real work begins then?

Hi Everyone, Greg here. Really nice to meet you all. I’ve played guitar on and off for many years. During that time I flirted with learning bass but never followed through. More recently I’ve taken up ukulele which I love. Several months ago I found a great deal on a bass guitar, bought it and started looking for online bass lessons, which has lead me here! I’m loving leaning/playing bass and the B2B lessons from Josh! :slightly_smiling_face:

This is actually a great point and Victor’s totally right (of course). If you ever play a wrong note you can just immediately slide one fret and it will sound good
