Introduce Yourself! (2026)

Hey everyone. Dan from Indiana here. I’ve been a bass player since the mid 90’s. I started playing punk rock as a teenager. Now I’m more into stoner / riff rock and progressive metal a bit. I’m turning 50 this year. I’ve been playing a long time, and I can keep up with most stuff, but I wanted to take this course to correct some bad habits and learn some music theory to become a more rounded player before I hit the big 50. I primarily play a Dingwall NG3 through a Bergantino HP2x and a Mesa Boogie Subway 212 but have a few other basses and some effects that I like to use. Before BassBuzz I tried another popular bass instruction site and found it unenjoyable and didn’t like being upsold at every turn. I watched a few videos of Josh on youtube and the way he teaches makes my brain listen and I’m glad I paid for the course. Heading into module 6 and I am really enjoying it and have been steadily picking up things I didn’t know and correcting bad habits. Happy to be here, thanks for having me.

Hi all,

I’m Alex, and I currently live in Czechia.

I joined the course recently, and I’m currently on module 4. I’ve been playing a bit for a few years now, but on and off multiple times, and never managed to reach a level that I was happy with. I did not play much over the last 5 years, unfortunately.

This year, I’ll try to focus on practicing a little bit every day consistently, since it is hard to find a lot of free time with work and family. I practice with headphones since everyone is already asleep. I’m a night owl.

Hey, everyone.

I’m Anna, and I’m from Nashville.

I’ve been playing music most of my life, mostly classical piano. Last year, I pivoted to rock piano, which really seemed to flick a switch in my brain. I’ve had an amazing time rediscovering music that I loved and figuring out what I want to do musically.

Years ago, I briefly played guitar. I wanted to try it again, but that would mean starting from scratch. Somehow, I went into Guitar Center looking for an electric guitar and wound up walking out with a bass, lol.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve had my bass for about two weeks. It’s an Ibanez Gio GSR200TR. I’m loving it!

Billie Jean totally kicked my butt today, but it’s gonna be worth it in the end. Looking forward to becoming an official badass!

Hi guys, I’m a couple steps in to Lesson 2, and loving it far. About me:

Never played anything before, but always wanted to play the bass for some reason. Always thought it would be “cool”. Anyway, I’m a 50-ish year old guy in middle Tennessee. Bought the Fender Squier “everything you need to play” kit last fall and finally got around to B2B, as I quickly realized I was going nowhere fast left to my own devices. For Christmas I got myself a Rumble 100, as the included Rumble 15 wasn’t cutting it. Having grown up a basshead, I knew a 8” driver wasn’t going to move enough air to satisfy me lol. I appreciate high quality audio (mobile and home) so this felt like a logical step.

Late to the party for 2026, but a repeat offender.

I started the course in 2025 and then number of things happened:

  1. I got distracted by an opportunity to learn Drums in-person
  2. the BassBuzz course was updated when I was at the end of Module 5, and I was torn about whether to continue or re-start.

Good news for Bass: I still have my Bass gear, and my Drum teacher has moved to home-visits only, which means I no longer have access to an acoustic kit (I have e-drums and a practice pad, but it’s not the same).

Cue me deciding to go with the newer BassBuzz course, and re-start from the beginning. Not looking forward to Billy Jean again, but I’m sure I’ll be stronger for it in the long run!

P.S. The new upgraded course is even better than the original. (I have completed both.)
