Hi, all. New to the course, and I am a self taught drummer trying to learn bass, and it has been fun so far using the BassBuzz (BB) “free 55 steps” download in the past and the BB Youtube videos. I have and use a Squier Classic Vibe 70’s jazz bass, and D’addario NYXL strings, and a Fender Rumble 40 amp, a Boss DB-90 metronome, and AudioTechnica M30x headphones to practice.
My background includes listening to a lot of wide ranging music, ranging from artists like these: Crash Test Dummies, Tom Petty, Eve6, Fastball, Foo Fighters, Coheed and Cambria, and all the way to a lot of Christian Rock music like Third Day, DCTalk, Pax217, and others.
I was in a few rock bands in my high school days, but my music journey started a lot in high school and early into college, when I was a self-taught drummer in my church’s youth worship band and also a worship band at my college. For a while, I used FreeDrumLessons resources (now Drumeo) to help me review more on drum notation.
Glad to be in the course with you. Happy bass playing!
PS - if you may be in the market for a music stand that is great quality and also portable, I really have liked the OnStage brand SM7211B stand, as if you look at the brand’s website you can also order replacement parts easily, and for cheap.
Hi everyone, I’m Márk. I started the B2B course in December, and I’m currently on module 8.
As a kid, I learned piano in music school, and later in my 20s I played keyboards in a cover band. But deep down, bass was always the instrument I really wanted to play, so this has been a long time coming for me. Last year my wife got an electric guitar and started taking lessons, and I figured I shouldn’t miss out on the fun. So in November 2025, I picked up a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass and a Fender Rumble 40 Studio.
I’ve been really enjoying the BassBuzz lessons so far, and I especially like Josh’s energetic and motivating style. Happy to be here, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey goes.
Hi everyone! Jason here. I am a 2nd generation native Texan (howdy) and I am so excited to start my journey playing bass. I am currently on module 3 and I am finding my days are filled with excitement to practice again after work. Yesterday was the first day I really could tell a difference in my consistency and sound (so cool!). This course just vibes with my learning style, I honestly do not think there would be a better way for me to start.
Growing up, both of my brothers played instruments (drums and guitar) and I was chronically the middle child, just doing my own thing. I took to skateboarding for 20+ years and ended up having a spine surgery in my late 20’s, so I have been in a bit of a weird place with having an urge to pour my creative energy into something but feeling like I can’t exactly do what I have always known in the same way anymore. I can absolutely say this is filling that space for me!
Looking forward to continuing on and eventually being able to jam with my brothers in the future middle child style (because we all know bass is the glue holding the song together, right?)
I used to ‘play’ guitar badly many moons ago but could never get the hang of bar chords, so the guitar has been gathering dust ever since.
Fast forward a couple of decades I started to get an interest in learning an instrument and gravitated to bass, partly because I’d watched to insipiring players and partly to answer a question a former music teacher asked all those years ago, “Have you tried bass?”. So a few weeks ago I took the plunge and bought a Fender Standard Jazz sunburst and a small amp. It is such a great looking instrument that it just beckons me to pick it up and pluck the strings.
I came across Bassbuzz on youtubve which I found entertaining, and after seeing lots of positive recomendations for the B2B I bought the course. I’m really loving the way it is structured and presented. I do some of the course nearly every day and have quickly progressed through the first 4 modules, recorded my terrible attempt at Billie Jean and now I’m in the middle of module 5, where I find I now have to put in extra practice as my fingers are so unruley, but I’m loving the challange.
Anyway , thought I’d introduce myself as I’ve been reading some of the posts here and it looks like a lovely supportive community .
