Introduce Yourself! (2026)

According to Josh, it’s preferred.

Insofar as your frets, you can get a fret file or any other fine file and fix those. Just be sure to tape off items like the tuners, pickups, etc so they don’t get ‘fines’ in them.

Hello everyone, I’m in my late 40’s in Iceland, disabled and was looking for an indoor hobby and maby a midlife crisis thing.. :þ and I decided to give bass a try, somehow always been my favorite instrument.

Went to the music store and picked up an old used bass, that plays really well but is VERY heavy.. :frowning: and I have been working on the B2B course, just finished module 2 and started module 3 today, and feel like there is progress there

Hoping after the course that I will be able to start to pick up some bass lines from my favorite bassist Rob Wright from nomeansno, even though I will have to learn to use the pick  but I dream of playing along nomeansno songs, but staying with the fingerstyle for the course, will just have to learn pick later when my fretting hand has a clue what its doing

Hope you are all having a good day when you read this, and wish you luck in your BASS journey

As I have learnes to live with my disability, it has allowed me the time to get back into playing bass (25 yr hiatus) and more recently building custom basses and guitars. Built a strat custom with my youngest as a christmas gift for her older sister, and have started my personal fav, a ‘51 P bass tribute, in shou sugi ban, black stain, satin finish, with heavy relic’d hardware and upgrade to Nordstand 51p4 hum cancelling pick up. It is supposed to tell the story of a raven rising from the ashes to new life. (My personal fight to get to where I am now). Taking my sweet time to get every detail precisely how I envisioned it. Still having issues with final pickguard ideas. Thinking of getting it pinstriped, maybe make, and age, a custom hammered copper guard, laser etching, or customised raven image guard. Any suggestions would be a big help. Will update with the build as she goes.

Hi all!

I got a (free) acoustic bass last year - never played bass, but I immediately loved noodling around. After watching Bass Buzz on YouTube for many months, I finally got myself the course last week and I’ve just started module 2. I’ve been having a blast, and my goal is to treat myself to a proper bass once I’m a few modules in

Looking forward to being in the badass club with you all. :sparkling_heart:

Well been around for about 3 months and figure would do the introduction. Loved music whole life but decided as my friend says if your fingers can move your never to old to learn. So i committed this time to learning the bass and after picking up a few on FB market place and getting the course I do not regret anything about it. I set a goal and just loved how the course went I finished it in 25 days as I pushed my self. Great course and going to go back through it but will do a three finger pluck all the way through. Just started doing the 50 songs thing and that has been amazing. Lastly bought some tools, bought a very cheap used based and learned to do my first clean and restore and set up and now have all mine set up the same. Looking forward to sharing this journey with the group as I know its just begun.

Hey there,

Been lurking for a bit, but getting serious about jumping in. I used to play drums back in the day (I’m 55), but it’s been awhile since I’ve played an instrument of any sort. I finally have some free time, so it’s a good time to get started.

Still looking at gear, but I’m getting close to pulling the trigger and getting started!

Seems like a great community, looking forward to being a part of it
