@T_dub I’m saying nothing.
I have some bad news. I walked past my favourite pawnbrokers today.
Although I tried to flatten the curve, There’s going to be a second wave on Monday.
I’m not saying that I’m their favourite customer, but the shop was shut because of corona precautions and they bought the bass right up to the front window and held it up for me to check it out.
It might yet be a fake, but it also might not be as it’s in pretty beaten condition. Enough for me to make it a project like a headless Fender to horrify purists. There’s always fun in that.
Please make this happen. I need to see this.
I decided that my life would not be complete without a 2010 Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass IV Active in all black.
So I figured today that I could either make this one up to look just like one… OR chop it’s head off like I did with the BTB400.
Would a headless one of these look hot or wot?
the sad thing is I like that thing’s black headstock more than I like any Fender natural headstock
I’m totally of two minds, but this one is way too beaten around to leave in that condition.
So it might just get carefully refinished, refitted with chrome bits and emblackened.
But the ANGST it could cause headless…
I wonder if Fender Bass purists gnash their teeth in a low B or Drop D tuning?
Probably standard, you know, to preserve the purity!
Someone gave me a week til the GAS god kicks me in the ass, after I forced him into the closet for a while.
That nasty bastard is trying like hell to get out. He is fighting with everything he has.
I mean, it’s stupid ridiculous how many things show up and pretty much say “take me away please, I am all yours, I am not appreciated here, forget that, I am flat out the victim of gross neglect”
I mean, how do you not???
Uh… uh… uh… (loss for words)
Damn GAS Ghoul. He is a nasty one
it’s a Sterling, not a Music Man. nothing wrong with Sterling but that’s like Squier, let’s say, not more.
I prefer matching headstock too, it gives a little classy look to a Fender (which are not very classy instruments). but that’s rare. I would have painted the headstock green on Greenie if there were not the Fender MIA logo thing … and I regret I’ve not done that on the Jim Harley when I was making a new logo and finish on the headstock ! but I wanted the Nate Mendel color scheme, so …
let’s see :
Liking it. We would need tuners, though.
And maybe some flames or a racing stripe.
Yes @terb, if it were a MM sting ray, The $150 would have been a typo for $1500 at least. Still nice, and it’s pre Sub Rays. Still nothing wrong with those either.
I like the headstock on better.
yeah the Sterling are fine, no problem at all !
It doesn’t seem ridiculously low to me but it is certainly a low price assuming nothing is wrong with it. Ask about the truss rod; if it is ok then at minimum you should be able to turn a profit selling it.
yeah @howard totally agree, it’s cool but it doesn’t look like the best deal of the year
£482 reduced to £327 at Bax-shop.co.uk @T_dub
Not that I would encourage you to buy it, if it were in Scotland I would have been playing it by now.
Just Saying
Whoa, wait. I just looked at the pic diagonally, and assumed it was an MM…
It’s still a good deal, looks like they run $180-240 used here, usually. It’s just not the earth-shattering deal it might have seemed
Assuming it is in good shape anyway.
Yes @howard, $150 is a good deal. They go for a bit more here used, around $300 to $450 depending on model, $250 if they are not great shape. True not earth shattering, but very worthwhile none the less.
It’s a moot point however, the seller stopped responding to me when I was trying to arrange the pick up today, so IDK. Maybe it sold, and he is just too rude to not answer back??
Moving on, GAS Ghoul in closet.
@T_dub a cage might be a better place
