i like your phonetically correct spelling of nux. jhs was the one to clue me in that it’s new ex, not nux (as in rhymes with who gives two fuc*s)
I picked that up from watching their videos XD
I never considered “putting my pedals on a pedestal” before. Xzibit is all for it, though.
I’m finally getting tired of having my pedals loose. I read about how much using velcro or adhesive brackets mucks up pedals. Is this really such a problem or does it just come off with some goo-gone or something?
Because of that I’m thinking of getting the holeyboard, but I really don’t like looking at the cable ties. I just know the hole positions are going to end up covering up knob labels or be in the way of something.
I use velcro and not worried about it. If it gets mucked up, it’s on the side to the floor. It’s easy and convenient to move pedals around until they’re just right.
With the Holeyboard, looks like you’ll need to turn the board over to get the zip ties in and tight, rather deal with the muck if I had to. And yes, Goo Gone would remove it
Like @Wombat-metal I also use velcro and don’t worry about it. It usually comes off pretty easily.
I use pedalboard tape rather than velcro but it doesn’t mess up the pedal if you need to remove it. A couple of mins with a plastic scraper followed by some IPA and the pedals as good as new again.
Edit: For some pedals you’ll need to remove the rubber feet though. You just need to keep the feet for later re-attachment.
I read this as India Pale Ale and not Isopropyl alcohol
I’ve peeled the velcro off of many pedals before selling. Some ethanol and elbow grease almost always takes care of it. Isopropyl should work fine too.
Just make sure to save the rubber feet. You need to take them off to velcro.
Thanks all for the adhesive removal tips. I’m not going to worry about it then.
I just sell them with the Velcro still on them, I call it a free feature.
This happens all the time too. The vast majority of people use velcro; I’d be surprised if stuff like Temple or the Rockboards made up 1% of the market.
How about using a couple of the large 3M Command strips? Then all you have to do is peel them off and no residue.
Even those temple brackets use adhesive.
I did run across this, but pricey.
There’s also stuff like the Warwick Rockboard, where you screw the pedals onto adapters that snap in.
