New Bass or New Amp?

Still there. Exactly the same “ssssssssssss”

And bass is facing the backdrop… nothing electrical.

Hmmm … that is no ground loop hum, that’s for sure!
This is with DI enabled? Is this the noise that you are complaining about all the time? I was expecting hum, not hiss!

It started with the crackling… and with time I managed to improve it… switching to XLR, facing away from PC/screens… adding the BDI/Comp… and now even better with the EHX… being only the hiss. Haven’t detected crackling or something more distorted atm.

Those are the only 2 things in the chain before the Focusrite 2i2.

And then 2i2 through USBC to PC (Already tried though USBA 2.0 and 3.0)

EDIT: That black thing they are sitting on is an acoustic panel.

Ah - the crackling can be buffer size for ASIO.

What ASIO ettings do you have? People with fast PCs tend to use small buffers (like me). That is not always helpful!

PS You want to stop electromagnetic interference with an acoustic panel?

No. Panel is to limit floor heating pipes from making potential noise

I’ve also turned off the heating pump, just in case…

And no… no difference… but the panel stayed there and I haven’t moved it since(It’s not glued)

192 KHz sample rate is very high. I tend to use high sampling rates too, but that’s just vanity

Try with 48Khz first. That’s really sufficient.

For ASIO buffer, test with 64 (likely to small), then 128, 256 and 512 (likely too much latency).
Around 128 and 256 there should be no crackling…

If you don’t use a microphone on the audio interface, you don’t need the 48v phantom power. I would always disable anything that is not necessary!

I have a mic. Input 1.

I will play around with those values to see if it changes anything.

Most of those things I’ve tried before pedals, XLR, etc.. but it’s a good idea to try again. Maybe with the reduced noise now, it can clean the rest.

And @rlbxtate, yeah.. there is a slight difference on the BDI. Tbh.. I just turned it on using the Batallion and didn’t try it with the ground lift off.

Do you have it or do you use it? If you don’t use it: unplug it!
What mic is it?

Could you do the testing without the mic first?

Oops I hit delete for some reason. Ok, thanks for sharing about the BDI ground lift and its impact in the hum.

I use it nearly daily.. and I have unplugged it before, when doing the input swap tests… same with 48v

You already have the 6 string MS if my memory serves me right. It’s feels pretty good if you play 2nd to 13 frets most of the time. Doing chords anywhere above 15th is a pain on the rump.

If I would consider another MS maybe, just maybe I’d get the strandberg Boden with the milder fan on the endurneck

Or work on your social skills and play with others! :love_you_gesture:

Man, that’s a sweet deal. I sure don’t need it, but it’s tempting as hell.

If it were easy to do, I’d sell my Rumble 40 to get it.

I’m locked on to the Genzler camp but I’m sure I’ll get one of the Katana amp one of these day I’ve never played the 110 but I played the 210 and the 500 as part of the house setup on a gig. The 210 is really impressive the entire stage was equipped with Roland/ Boss amp, guitars, keyboards and bass amp. That’s how I got the Katana Artist MK1 series at a killer deal because he upgraded to the MKii.

Yeah, I have my Ibanez BTB806MS.
I love it… even when doing chords above the 12th fret. Smaller frets do help me a bit as my finger elasticity sucks.

The 5 string I was aiming for was something along the lines of a Spector… but also looking at other options. Sadowsky, Ibanez, Warwick. Headless basses I am not enjoying them visually… maybe one day… who knows?

Unfortunately, those Ibanez EHB’s are kind of growing on me looks wise (4 string version, of course). I really kind of dig what @sunDOG does with his. I’ve heard they sound kind of muddy but it also seems like he’s been able to tame that.
