That’s groovin’ @John_E great playing and great tone. You have a knack for picking great tone for the song.
That a fun one and love that you get into it. @Barney I was watching ‘Back to the Future” with my kids last weekend and was thinking about doing that soundtrack. Lol. This is definitely a kick Ing the pants to get thing going.
Great job.
Wow! That’s a great song choice @John_E I’ve never heard of it before but it was great song the bass ramp up in the end and man I miss the genius of Ringo Star.
Is it a palm muted picking? That’s pretty awesome tone.
Super clean cover ! Love the title too ^^.
Hey nice cover - great to hear some lesser known Beatles tracks. And a very nice bass! What are the string gauges - does it use a normal ‘6-string’ set?
Oh and I’m feeling the funk with this track . You know what? That fender is crying out for an authentic bridge cover to go with its burst and pickguard…
I have the bridge and pickup covers.
I tend to like them off better.
I feel like I hear some additional resonance when either are on that annoys me.
But I go back and forth.
It’s this…
- String Gauges: .026 (E), .035 (B), .044 (G), .056 (D), .075 (A), .095 (E)
Basically a light bass set.
Aha!
How does it feel to play? Can you strum it like a guitar? It looks way cool but seems a really specialised instrument.
There’s only one place the original bridge cover should go
Nooooooo…
I don’t play guitar but yeah that’s the whole point of it I think. The concept was its a bass for guitarists. So when Paul was on piano or acoustic, John or George could easily play a bassline (mostly root fifths) easily as they knew where all the notes were.
Dig It was played by John using chords so I’ll give that a whirl one day and try to learn strumming on it.
It is indeed specialized for sure. You can play any bassline on it but picking only. Has cool tones for sure. Finger plucking is out is the question with string spacing.
Bass Cover- Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
Got bored with trying to perfect this, so here it is with a few little errors.
very nice
@Vince Nice work Vince, that’s a great start out of the gate. I like the tone and the level of the bass in the mix.
The only observation I have (and it’s not a criticism) is that you’re plucking with just the index finger. I mean James Jamerson only used one finger his whole career; so who am I to argue with him? It’s only that when you get to faster more intricate parts, it’s sometimes easier to be comfortable using alternate plucking.
Anyway sounded good.
Very well done @Vince ! Beautiful song as well, always liked to hear it.
Song 4 from the challenge - details here.
Very nicely done @brik1970 !
Thank you, any critiques are also welcome… they help me learn and improve.
Nice @brik1970 I love a good two feel country song with some walk ups. Nice and clean
