Perfect intonation @dlamson13 very cool to listen to a fretless without too many vibrato and note massages. that’s a great cover.

Wow! that’s a great tone @howard. That’s a short scale right? sounds so good man. I don’t have any experience with the SBV but now I really want one. that’s Uber cool.

@BumbleJazz wonderful tone and playing is just right in pocket. That Streamer is a weapon of mass destruction in your hand man.

Nope, 34". And thanks! These things have my favorite pickups I have found yet. Mine looked like the blue one here:

I upgraded to its big sister, the SBV-800MF.

yeah the SBV pickups are crazy cool. what I say about my SBV-500 is it’s like a Jazz Bass but a better one. Absolutly everything is better, by far, including the pickups.

The look is better (partial), the ergonomics is better, the neck profile is better, the weight balance is (infinitly) better, the tone is better, the quality is at least similar (compared to a MIA) or better (compared to a MIM or MIJ).

it’s insane to own a 800. please never, never sell it ! (or, to me  )

Thanks! I was going for a very processed tone…I think I called the patch, Deep Mercy :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks, @Al1885. It was a Hagstrom Viking. I say was, I ended up trading it for an Ibanez EHB1000S. It recorded beautifully, but I really didn’t like the playing experience, so it had to go!

I’ll pass your kind words on, @Al1885! Thanks!

Ultimately, this is why I started, playing out my unfulfilled teenage dreams

Messing around again!

The Beatles Taxman Bass Cover.

The funny thing is I think Eldritch played that bassline pretty much clean into the amp

I don’t remember Patricia Morrison using a lot of effects either.

Thing is, I’m not trying to replicate the exact sound of the original bass lines on any of my covers. For me it’s about having some fun and playing around with things, making it one’s own.

Thanks Al! Some of these songs I know so well I can just play them right away. The incubus one definitely takes you by surprise if you don’t know the band lol.

@howard i did practice this one quite a bit over the last couple weeks just didn’t really have time to give it a proper play through. The verse and chorus riffs are pretty straightforward, the pre chorus and bridge are just so different from the rest of the song it really messed with my brain
