Post your covers! (2024)

:joy: I love my daughter but prolly not gonna happen anytime soon with the drone remote in her hands. Even my smallest drone can really bust me up good. Now I’m thinking about it too, maybe I can setup a few waypoints and just shoots. That might be fun.

Mayer Hawthorne - Standby

This one was deceptively tough. The riff doesn’t change much but nailing the articulations did prove a challenge. After a few dozen attempts, I had to resort a small amount of editing to pull it all together.

Also, I broke out the JINO bass on this one, it needed some love!

Hope you enjoy the groove.

Thanks Al.
I’ve always used Vimeo. I started using Vimeo when YT blocked my first Beatles cover.

I made 2 Eagle covers but never made the tubes. New York minutes and hotel CA, then thought about the ridiculousness of this Eagle intellectual property thing I just deleted my videos so I don’t have to use it anymore. :joy:

Thank you JohnnyB!

No one is home now, got to listen to this one cranked, sounded so good!

That 's what you did back then lol, I remember picking this up as soon as it came out. The CD had this translucent green and purple case, if I recall. Just seemed like the coolest thing ever at the time. Great album.

Thanks! It’s a little bit heavier I think, not by much though but I love that there’s a thumb rest and that was quite a surpise. The neck might be bigger too but tbh I like it and for playing faster songs, that’s what I have my Spector for because that has a slimmer neck and it’s lighter. I think there’s going to be songs that the Jazz can play well but the Stingray is the sound I think of when I think about a bass.

Thank you. I’d love to see a picture when you get your Stingray!

Thanks @Johnnyb I wish I could stand but unfortunately I don’t have the space to do that currently. As for the 50 song challenge, there are a few songs I’d like to do. I want to redeem myself on Billie Jean and Papa’s got a Brand New Bag. I don’t know if I will do all of them but there are some I plan to do pretty soon outside of those 2

Thanks @JerryP! It might be recency bias but I think I might like it a little better than my Jazz bass

Yes, very cool. It was definitely easy to find at the record store. Cool artwork on the liner notes too.

Thanks Al! The harmonics are so fun right? I love how Ament uses them here and in “Even Flow” as well. You don’t really hear that often in a rock context.

Haha, yeah I’ll need to review my life insurance policy before attempting that stunt on my roof

Super smooth playing! Some cool harmonic things happening here, when you slide up to the Ab, not expected but so cool :dark_sunglasses:

Thanks man! I wasn’t doing much sliding at first but as the tracking session went on I was having more trouble sticking to one finger per fret.

Cover #2

I did this one to work on horizontal movement around the fretboard and get in a few hammer ons.

Cool! The best covers are the ones where the bass is not “in yer face”! Me likey

So that means I feel forced to post something too soon … and kick @BozzerWolf 's @ass once again to post his now
